Diary Game 18th June 2021. MY First Visit To A Commercial Poultry Farm by @ngozi996
A very Good evening to everyone in the @steemwomenclub . I hope we're all doing great?!
Today I had the opportunity to visit a commercial poultry farm for the first time,of course I'd been visiting small scale farms but this one was a totally different and new experience
My day was filled with activity and learning. Here's how it went.
I woke up today by 6:00am,read my daily devotional and got up to help my siblings prepare for school, I didn't want them to go late.
While they bathed I swept and cleaned the house.
After they'd left I had my breakfast of rice and stew and then I rested!
Later in the afternoon my mum asked me to accompany her to buy chickens from a poultry farm and so our journey began. This journey was important because I was not only going to be seeing some parts of my state I'd never seen before but most importantly I was going to meet with my mum's business associates and learn how this business is done.
First my mum checked her car to see if it was in order for the trip and then we stopped over at a fuel station to top up the fuel in the car.

On our way I saw a local cassava grinding machine (igwe japu) in my dialect.
It'd been years I saw it so I took a photo

We finally got to the farm by 4:30pm and proceeded with sorting, and selecting the chicken we'll take.
This took a while and I noticed the sellers were happy to do so. Who wouldn't be?
Here are some pictures I took of the activity

I also noticed they had different chicken pens where they put the chickens depending on their age.
The 2 chicken pens.
They also reared two types of chickens, layers which lay eggs and broilers which are basically for meat though they still lay eggs with time
Layers. These lay eggs we eat.
Broilers which is basically for meat.
We left the farm by 5:30pm and arrived home by 6:20pm,then we began sorting them out.
