Greetings steemians and friends of the #steemwomensclub community, this time I want to share with you the preparation of some Venezuelan criollo cachapas, which are one of the most anticipated meals by all during the beginning of the corn harvest.

Un saludos steemians y amigas de la comunidad #steemwomensclub, en esta oportunidad quiero compartir con ustedes la preparación de unas cachapas criollas venezolanas, las cuales son una de las comidas más esperadas por todos durante el comienzo de la cosecha del maíz.

We only need freshly cut sweet corn, sugar, salt and banana leaves to spread.

Solo necesitamos maíz tierno recién cortado, azúcar, sal y hojas de cambur para tender.

Preparation || Preparación

The first thing we do is peel the ears and when we have finished we start chopping the corn, we do this with the help of a knife to be able to remove everything from the cob.

Lo primero que hacemos es pelar las mazorcas y cuando hayamos terminado empezamos a picar el maíz, esto lo hacemos con la ayuda de un cuchillo para poder sacarlo todo de la tusa.

Then we grind all the corn with the help of a mill, in my house there is a manual one, so generally those who grind the corn are men.

Luego molemos todo el maíz con ayuda de un molino, en mi casa hay uno manual así que por lo general quienes muelen el maíz son los hombres.

When we have finished we add salt and sugar to taste, when the mixture is ready we begin to assemble the cachapas. We place the banana leaves and with the measure of a cup we pour the mixture in the center of the leaf, to then give it a round shape, as if we were making an arepa but larger.

Cuando hayamos terminado le agregamos sal y azúcar al gusto, cuando la mezcla esta lista comenzamos armar las cachapas. Colocamos las hojas de plátano y con la medida de una taza echamos la mezcla en el centro de la hoja, para luego darle una forma redonda, como si hiciéramos una arepa pero de mayor tamaño.

Finally we place it on the grill in the kitchen over low heat, we wait for it to cook on one side and we put another banana leaf on top and turn it over. So that it is cooked on both sides, when they are ready we place them in the oven to make sure they are cooked.

Por último la colocamos en la plancha en la cocina a fuego lento, esperamos que se cocine de un lado y le ponemos otra hoja de plátano por arriba y le damos la vuelta. Para que se cocine de ambos lados, cuando estén listas las colocamos en el horno para asegurarnos de que estén cocidas.

In this way we will have delicious cachapas ready to taste, in Venezuela we like to fill them with white cheese, pig meat and others. But this is a matter of everyone's taste. I particularly like to fry them after they are done and eat them with cheese.

De esta manera tendremos deliciosas cachapas listas para degustar, en Venezuela nos gusta rellenarlas con queso blanco, carne de cochino y demás. Pero esto es cuestión del gusto de cada quien. A mí en particular me gusta freírlas después que están listas y comerlas con queso.
