The Diary Game: Family Gathering After the Typhoon

in SteemWomen Club3 years ago

Hello beautiful women of Steem Women Club!

Today marked the 26th day since typhoon Odette hit the Philippines. Our situation today is much better than that of previous weeks. Although we still have no electricity and stable signal in our place, the water shortage crisis has been solved. We are receiving help from different individuals and private institutions. I am optimistic that soon, we'll be able to rise and the economy will recover.

Earlier this week, we had dinner together with my extended family. It was a perfect time to catch up and ask for each other's situation during and after the supertyphoon. This gathering is the first time we've seen each member of the extended family since the calamity. Communication was almost impossible for several days due to unstable signal. It took so much patience on our part.

This is our family picture over dinner. We have no electricity yet, so we decided to do an early dinner at my mother-in-law's house.

My husband and I arrived early at the venue. We greeted each family member who came, and asked their current situation. It broke my heart to see my brother-in-law almost breakdown and fought the urge to cry when he narrated what they had gone through during the typhoon. Their house was built from light materials, and it did not withstand the wrath of Odette. I felt his pain, it must've been very devastating on his part especially that their house was only built earlier this year. All the money, efforts, and sacrifices were put waste. Very heartbreaking.

After dinner, we decided to take a picture together as a big family. This was a successful yet simple celebration. This may not be the type of celebration that we planned, but still grateful for this day. Despite everything, we are still positively looking forward for the days to come. Hoping for better tomorrows ahead. 🙏

These are my nephews during the game session. Of course parties wouldn't be complete without games for the kids. They looked serious in this picture as the game required them to eat calamansi without the sour face. It was pretty hilarious seeing them do their best not to show any signs of sourness or "mukhasim" in Filipino.

This was our celebration. Thank you so much for dropping by. I wish you well.
