Steemwomensclub contest #19!/local dress promotion/we want to see colors/by madilyn02
Greetings to you my lovely friends, I am so much delighted to be participating in this contest by @steemwomensclub.
introduction
Fashion can be said to be ruling the world, it influences what we wear, say and do. People never want to be out of fashion, they thereby follow the latest trends.
I come from an igbo land, namely, Osisioma Ngwa Local government in Abia state, Nigeria.
I am going to going to be talking about the clothing in igbo land.
all about Igbo dressing for women
Fashion and way of dressing changes overtime, in the past young ones in igbo land wore nearly no clothing on them, they may just wear enough to cover their private parts and then wear some bead ornaments.
Grownups usually tied wrappers to cover themselves and then decorate their bodies with traditional igbo art and waist beads and anklets.
The kings(eze),queen(lolo) maids and palace guards also wore certain styles.
Modern day igbo dressing
Modern day females wear blouses with puff sleeves(or any other choice sleeve) with a pair of wrapper (hollandis, george, hitarget and laces are the wrappers mostly tied.) and a scarf called the 'gele ' on the head.
Below is a typical example of that
this is the photo of my grandma wearing the traditional igbo dress before she passed away
Beads are also a very important part of the igbo dressing. Igbos like wearing their coral beads and necklaces along with their traditional wears. Their earrings, handbags are mostly designed with beads. The beads are also used to style their hair. Most people also wear waist beads.
Other modern day dresses include traditional gowns, skirt and blouses. They can also be worn with beads, the headscarf (gele), beaded bags, anklets, waistbeads etc.
Typical examples are shown below:

prices in steem
The most popular fabric used for my modern traditional wears is what we call 'Ankara'.
We have the hitarget which is more higher in price than the normal Ankara.
The 'hitarget Ankara 'is sold at 21.08steem using the current steem price. The other one is sold at 7.17steem.
The beads vary in price. It depends on they one you want to buy. You can get a neck bead of of 4steem and above.
conclusion
Though most people today wear western styles, the igbos still value their cultural dresses. They still dress in their cultural dresses especially for traditional marriages and occasions like that.
