STEEM WOMEN CLUB || "Chain of Goodness" | Feeding the Hungry 01
Buenas Noches my dear strong women!
How are you all today? Praying that you are well and still fighting against this pandemic. Due to this worldwide pandemic-the Covid-19 virus, hunger has always been a problem especially for those families who don't have a stable job. Sometimes, they can't provide their kids a 3-times a day meal. And I really witnessed it in our neighborhood. They will just sleep sometimes with an empty tummy praying that in the following day they can find a portion of food prepared by their parents on their table. And it really brokes my heart upon knowing it.
“If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one.” Mother Teresa
I love this quote from Mother Teresa, yes I can't afford to feed all my neighborhoods but at least I fed some of them. So, I will be sharing with you my first entry in "Chain of Goodness" where I do feed the hungry.
Why Did I Fed the Hungry?
Last November 2020, me and my husband @jmaxswivel decided to transfer to their place. In my almost 4 months of stay here, I feel like I have a mission why destiny brought me here. I always cry a lot of tears every time I pray because I can feel that there is something bothering me. And it was revealed as I joined this community. It has something to do with helping the needy. This community means so much to me because there were things that I learned about myself especially my missions and the things I can do. I am really not into going out in our place but my feet brought me here:
Most of the houses of my neighborhoods are like this, and it really hurts me more knowing that they can't feed their family three times a day. And some are just so happy if they can eat rice without a dish or just use soy sauce, sugar or salt as a replacement for their dish. So, I guess that was the greatest mission I need to do in our place. At least I could let them taste something not usual to them...
The Preparation
Early in the morning, I and my husband together with my kid decided to go to the market nearby to buy the things we needed in our planned feeding. And it was my first time to initiate such feeding. Thanks to #steemwomenclub for making me brave to do this.
People with genuine hearts are willing to help, they are always on the GO- my sis-in-law and cousin-in-law.
Yes, I just prepared a very simple snack but upon serving it to the hungry tummy, big smiles are seen on their faces. We bought 3 loaves of sliced bread, 1 big ladies' choice, 5 sachets of orange juice, 1 pack of small plastic bags, 50 pcs of disposable cups.
The Feeding Proper
After everything was set, we call our neighborhood and let them sit on the sofa. We can see on their faces the excitement and happiness to receive such gift.
I let them line up and gave their shares. Upon receiving the snacks, some stayed inside the house and some went home and share it to their loved ones and it really touches my heart more. I hope that someday, I can also include their parents. I was able to feed almost 20 kids plus 5 adults. How I wish I could help them everyday so that I can always see their beautiful smiles. At the back of my mind, I just pray that these kids will grow and could help their parents in the future.
It was such a heartwarming experience for me, my heart is very happy that the first feeding program I initiated was successful. Though a part of my heart is sad why do they need to suffer like this. But I know God has His purpose why He let them experience poverty, because it may be the reason for them to strive hard and be motivated to change their status of living. And I know that there were lots of generous and rich people that are willing to help them.
This feeding activity will leave a scar in my heart and will no longer be erased. An activity that makes my heart jump and happy.
“It is an eternal obligation toward the human being not to let him suffer from hunger when one has a chance of coming to his assistance.” –Simone Weil
The kids are so thankful.
