Steem Women Club Community Contest #8 ' Handicrafts ' Time to Show Ingenuity | CROCHET HEADKERCHIEF
A cordial and respectful greeting to the members of this beautiful community. I am pleased to introduce myself while I take the opportunity to participate in the Contest proposed for this week, in which we must show our ingenuity and creativity through a craft project. I would like to invite my friend @creacioneslelys to participate.
To begin with, I must say that I am new to this platform, which is why it seemed like a wonderful opportunity, to start in the community with a post about crafts. I really enjoy making crafts in general, but the activity that I really love is Knitting. I have been crocheting for a long time, yet I still consider myself a beginner. There are so many new techniques that I would like to learn. I generally do practical and simple projects that are easy to do. For more complex projects I take a little more time and if I like the results they become small trophies for me. It is a way of showing that with patience and dedication we can achieve great things.
For this contest I decided to develop a very simple project, but also very beautiful and useful. The idea of showing simple projects is to encourage those people who have ever felt like learning to knit but don't dare because they think it is something very complex, or that crochet is only for grandmothers; that only tablecloths or rugs can be made. I can assure you that they are just wrong ideas about this beautiful art, which for me has also been a very effective and healing therapy. It is ideal for children and has many benefits, of which I would like to write another time.
My little project is a cute knitted scarf. That kind of scarf used by women in the movies of the 1950s and which is very practical to collect and decorate the hair. This scarf is made following a Granny Triangle pattern. I share a pattern that I found on a web page and I leave the link so that you can locate it. With this pattern you can make many different projects, so I recommend that you save it very well.
The materials to be used to knit this scarf are only thread, a crochet needle, scissors and a lot of desire to make it.
The stitches to use are the double crochet, the chain stitch and the slip stitch. The first thing we have to do is make a magic ring, inside the magic ring we knit 3 chains, three double crochets, 1 split chain, 4 double crochets and finish the first round with a double crochet. We turn the fabric, we start the second round with 4 treble crochets (all in the last treble crochet of the previous round), 3 treble crochets in the chain of the previous round, a chain and again 3 treble crochets; and we finish with 4 treble crochets on the last chain of the previous round.
We continue to guide ourselves through the pattern until we achieve the number of turns necessary to obtain the desired size of the scarf. Then we knit a small border with chains and single crochets; we weave the shots that are going to be used to tie the scarf to our heads. And this little, easy and very nice project is finished. I hope you like it, I will be happy to read your comments and suggestions for improvement. Thanks for reading, Greetings and Blessings!
