A Chain of Goodness | Supporting a Neighbor for Her Little Business Means a Lot to Her

According to Sir Winston Churchill, We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give. A very nice line to ponder today.

Act of kindness comes in many different ways. We do feeding program for children and less fortunate. We help clean our environment. We extend help through the needy and the sick. And a lot more that we do to help others in need.

But, we might not know that a single act of kindness is also means supporting vendors in your area, local farmers sell their crops at the market, and even supporting your neighborhood with their mini business. Some of us will go to the supermarket without realizing that we are helping much to the rich people already and that they gain more interest from their supplies where we can get a lot cheaper when we buy to our local market.

I am emphasizing here that our neighbors of vendors at the market needs our help and support by buying their products which is more fresh and cheaper compared to the big supermarkets.

One example today is me purchasing vegetables from this mini-store. She sells vegetables which she also got at the market and displays in her store with no high interest. Most of the time, some neighbors will get the produce and promise to pay on the salary day. Some will pay every Saturday, some every two weeks, and others monthly. She opted to have them have the food first to the neighbors and will just wait when to pay but as she said, sometimes it is hard for her to recover especially when those people will not pay on time. When the vegetables are about to get old, she would prefer to cook it for her family and she would also share to one of her neighbor who suffered from stroke and lost his job.

We do not know that the vendor we help for is also helping others... An example of chain of goodness

Aside from the vegetables she also have different kitchen and food supplies. Like instant noodles, canned goods, shampoo, bath and laundry soap, coffee, milo and sugar. Anf if you can noticed the 3 jars below, those are anchovies, fermented mussels, and fermented small shrimp (pink color) are the usual and best seller here because it's very cheap and it will help the hungry stomach of the people just like me when I was a kid.

This is actually where she lives and the face of her store. It is good to help people like her who is striving to feed her family and at the same time she has the heart to help her neighbors too. When we are able to help and that person we helped to also help others... is just a wonderful feeling

I bought 1 big chayote, 10 onions, 5 stalks of spring onion, 7 tomato, 3 round garlic, cabbage, misua, and 2 cans of sardines. It may not be a lot for today but constant support to her and to other vendors will go a long way for them.

I know this act of kindness is very simple but I am encouraging you all reading this to support the local vendors, farmers and other small business around your area especially those elderly and kids working hard for their daily survival. Your support to them is a joy for them to bring food on the table for their family.
