TUMERIC A USEFUL HERB FOR YOU
Hello dear beautiful Ladies and Mumies, how are you all doing? I hope no problem. Am here to share with you a very good herb that we all need in our home on a regular basis. You may have been using it already but let me throw more light to it so you can make use of it to the fullest. The name is Tumeric.
TUMERIC
This is a herb that is locally grown in Nigeria and I personally have the plant in my compound. If you have not seen the plant before, take a look of how it looks.
The Tumeric plant
Tumeric is of the Ginger family but with a very huge difference both in look and colour. It is softer and not spongy like the Ginger. Its outstanding yellow colour is very distinct and unique. Our grand parents used this herb so well that even use it to beautify their skin. You can use it to colour the foot of your feet and use it to draw designed paintings especially during festivals.
THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF TUMERIC
This wonder herb has so many benefits to the body. You can either use it in powdered form or when its still fresh. I usually use it fresh so I don't miss any part of these root crop herb.
Tumeric supports the Digestive and Gastro-intestinal system, Heart health, and the Joints and Bones.
Each time am cooking Beans, I must add tumeric. When cooking Stew, I must add Tumeric. Jollof Rice? See its amazing colour because you will automatically have a white rice turned to yellow rice. You will see the beauty and colour of your food.
It can be added as a seasoning to food. Its strong colourant can spice up your dish to your greatest amazement.
Tumeric seed
Now friends let me teach you a simple Recipe you can do with the Tumeric. It is called Tumeric Blood Tonic.
INGREDIENTS
Tumeric, Justicia Carnea (Blood leaf) and Water. This herbal Recipe can transform your health. Its very safe and natural.
PREPARATION
Just cut the leaves of Justicia Carnea and wash it properly and keep in a clean bow.
Clean your Tumeric roots, and wash it properly and cut to smaller pieces. The quantity depends on your need, so use your discretion but I suggest a handful of the Justicia Carnea and about 3 medium size of the Tumeric. Now boil about 2 cups or half litre of water, the quantity you wish to drink for a day depending on how many people you wish to join you in drinking it. First add the Tumeric into your pot of water and turn on the heat. Allow to boil for some 5 minutes then add your vegetables - Justicia Carnea and cook together for another 7 minutes after it has reached boiling point, turn off the heat. Allow it to cool down and its ready to drink.
The Final process
Now you have learned some usefulness of our Tumeric herb. I want to encourage you to try using this simple herb in your family especially as we are approaching the cold season. To prevent bacteria attack, add Tumeric to your daily regimen and it will blow your mind. You will be so refreshed and energised.
I want to invite my friends @maubaby, @greyc, @princesshope to also participate in this contest and share their own great ideas.
