What is the actual meaning of yoga?? 🏃‍♂️

This is my first post in this community.

  • Here comes my another blog with an amazing topic "yoga".
  • What is the actual meaning of yoga??
  • There are many definitions:
    -The union of your physical ,mental and spiritual practices is called yoga.
    It is the set of specific exercises with some poses with specific breathing techniques and meditation principles.
  • It improves your strength, balance and flexibility.
    Deep breathing involved in it increases the blood flow and warm up the muscles.
    One can get a good body posture by performing the yoga poses.

  • There are many types of yoga but today I will talk about ashtanga yoga.
  • Ashtanga means 8 parts
    -Ashtanga yoga considers the eight parts to perform it in a proper manner.

1-yam
which involves the practice of your mind to control yourself from doing the things you like very much but they are harmful.
For example, the control of your mind by leaving the cigarettes or any bad habit.

2-niyam
It involves the practice of obeying the laws and customs etc.
It helps you to built discipline in your daily behaviour.

3-asana
which involves the yoga poses in sitting, standing and sleeping manners. It helps to improve the flexibility and strength as well as balance of your body.

4-prayanam
it is the practice of controlling your breathing manners. It helps to improve your internal health and organs.it purify the blood and triggers the blood flow of your body.

5-pratayahar
it is the Sanskrit word which means 'withdrawal of the senses'. A person performing pratyahar withdraws the senses from his mind and prepare a fresh mind to perform the next steps of ashtanga yoga (concentration)

6- dharana
It involves the breath holding and focusing on an object without wavering. It is also called concentration. It helps to create the certainty and stability of your mind.

7-dhyana
Which means meditation. It helps you to remove anger, irritation and anxiety from your mind to gift you an amazing and calm mind with all the positive Vibes of the day.

8-samadhi
The last and amazing stage to meet your own soul. It involves the consciousness of a person and gives you a controlled mind with the freshness in it.

  • So this was an introduction of ashtanga yoga which were initially introduced buy sage Patanjali to the world. Make sure you are performing it everyday to enjoy a little time with yourself in this world of busy lives.
