Meet Volkswagen TDI
A vehicle is any mechanical device that aids in the transportation of people and goods.
From the first successful Steem engine to today's autonomous Soler and rechargeable battery powered google driverless cars, there have been lots and lots of evolutionary changes with room to expect more in the feature.
After getting used to the manual shifting system of a Toyota Avensis wagon 2000 Model. I was a little apprehensive about automatic transmission systems, who will blame me after shifting sticks for a little over 10 years, I felt a driver is only in full control when he selects the speed at his own pace. I still needed to upgrade to a vehicle with a fully automatic transmission system.
The Volkswagen Passat 2005 TDI did not just have a fully automated transmission system but had a lot of automated systems. It was just too computerized for my liking. Don't get me wrong, not that I don't like cool things, but we locally do not have workshops that diagnose this type of vehicle. The few that exist are too expensive. 12 thousand Naira and going by the current exchange rate of 150 per Steem making it about 80 Steem to run diagnostics.
It is not comfortable driving with some light on the dashboard regardless if it is red, yellow, blinking or steady. You just have to get it fixed else it feels like something bad will happen if you keep driving.
Why I love the car
Each time I drove into a station to refuel, I will park at the diesel dispenser and the pump attendant will always feel I am at the wrong place. One day a pump attendant said, "when you borrow a car from someone, ask what type of fuel it uses". Though it felt insulting, I was comforted when I realized that it was out of share ignorance. It took some convincing to have him pump some liter of diesel into my tank. "Only trucks use Diesel and this small one is also using diesel?"
Running on diesel has great advantage when it comes to availability and pump price stability.
Though it cost more compared to Premium Motor Spirit(PMS), when well serviced, the fuel economy compensates for that.
Engine
TDI 2005 runs on a powerful Front wheel, drive 2.0 liters, 4 cylinder, 8 valved turbo-diesel engine with a whooping 134 Horsepower @ 4,000 rpm with a 5-speed shiftable automatic transmission.
I just love it when it gives off a smooth roar and the smell of burnt diesel that comes with it.
The interiors
Enhanced with 5 comfortable, auto-adjustable, and programmable leather seats. A multi display dashboard, a road navigation system and a powerful air-conditioning system with surround sound.
Body
Ash color wagon, with 5 doors and some really interesting suspension mechanism that absorbs shock and allows maneuverability, keeping the car balanced at high speed.
Security
Has an active anti theft system with a very loud internal and external alarm. The internal alarm can make you go deaf and is place inside the rear seat to prevent easy disarming of the system.
In the event of a malfunctioning, do not go out with the keys in the ignition. Once the pressure sensor on the seats detects that you are out, the doors will be locked automatically.
