MY TRIP TO PIKWORO SLAVE CAMP- BETTER LIFE

Hello everyone,
Is another beautiful day and we give praises and thanks to Allah for all the good things He has done for us.
More over, I’m here to share with you guys how my day went. 14/07/2021.
So I wake up very early this morning because today was really going to be a busy day for me. So I wake up early to finish all my morning routine on time before I get to do the work I have for the day.

Today was really a great day because I was to embark on a trip to the PIKWORO SLAVE CAMP

So due to that, I finished what I was to do in the morning very early and after that, I prepare my breakfast and after everything, I was there when my friend called me to prepare so that we can embark to the PIKWORO SLAVE CAMP
So I got prepared and he came and took me with his car and we’re also 4 people in the car.

So we took off from the hostel around 12:00 pm and the distance from navrongo to the Pikworo slave camp was 45 minutes drive.

So we left navrongo at 12:00 pm and we arrived there at 1:03 pm. We didn’t reach there in time due to we were just driving small small but God been so wonderful, we reach there successfully.

So when we reach the salve camp, that my friend has a friend who is always in the Pikworo slave camp, so he called him and he said we should wait for him that his coming.
So we waited like 15 minutes and he came.
So when he came, we and him greet each other and we told him the reason why we came there and he that’s good and he said we should start the to around the camp.

So he start to tell as the history about the Pikworo slave camp , when it started and when it end.
It started in 1704 and end at 1845.

It was so Petty as to how it started and honestly I feel like crying.
The way the white mens came and how they lie to chiefs to Settle in that place.
They came with the mind that, they want to settle with them and Also they came with the intention that, they didn’t came to fight and also those days, people were just free and also they way the people of those days, they were just free with people whether you are a stranger or whatever, they were willing to accept you in the house or village.

So due to that, the white men had the chance to settle in that place. They settle for a long period of time before they started that slavery.

So we first move straight to we’re the slaves were eating and the kind of water they drinking and after eating, they move to their plying ground.

And kind of water they were drinking.. hmm so petty.

One interesting thing about the water was, since as that time, the water never finished. And as you see that water, is very deep.
So the water never finished till date.
So when ever they had they food and after they finished eating, they then move to the playing ground.
This is the interesting part.

You see that Rock, that is the rock that produces sounds for them to Dance and have fan.
Apart from those rocks, there is no any other rock that can produce that sounds.

This was how they were playing it and the kind of song they were singing whiles playing it.

So after here, we move to we’re they were doing buying and selling (meeting place for slaves)

This was the place they will gather all the slaves and the buys will look among them and see the people they want. Hmmm this place when I hear the story I nearly carried.
When all the slaves gathered and then buys look among the slaves pick those they want, just looks at what they were using as money to buy the slaves.
The Medium of exchange was barter trade.
The buys will bring sugar and exchange a slave, sometimes they will bring mirror and collect a slave and this is the most painful part, sometime they will bring just a walking stick and collect a slave.
So after they finished buying those they want, they will give them some foot for them to eat before they can took off to were ever they sending them too.

And they will give them time for them to finish eating them they can move to we’re ever they are sending them too.

For there, we move to we’re they chief security we’re standing watching everybody in the salves camp.

The kind of security that was there, nobody could move to anywhere as soon you found yourself in the camp.
Those days because there were not enough trees, the chief security can be on top of the rock and he could see things from a far distance.

From there, we move to the punishment rock. This was were they punished the slaves whoever commit a crime. The punishment was really deadly. I’m saying this because, u will sit on the rock and you will be looking at the sun ☀️ in the morning till sunset. And this was the rule, you will be looking at the sun, when it is moving you too will be moving and you will be looking at the sun.

You see how I was sitting on the rock, that was how the slaves were sitting on it.
The sad part was, a lot of the slaves got blind due to these punishment.

And this was the rule. The first You commit a crime and they bring you, they will punish you, the second time too, they will punish you but the last time you commit again and they bring you to the punishment rock, hmm that’s your last day of living...THEY WILL KILL YOU.

And the punishment rock was just near to their Cemetery

Everything about the slaves is just sad 😞. This was how they were Bering the slaves. They will dig one grave and they could put 10 dead slaves inside.

From the cemetery, we then move back to our car so that we could rest small and move back to navrongo.

It was really nice being there and I will like to invite some of my friends to also get time and visit there and see wonderful things and also God attributes too.
This was when we finished the tour and we were walking back to our car.

We sit sometime rest and have some chat with our friend who happens to say in the slaves camp.
We talk for sometime and this was when we were to take off back to navrongo.

We took off from the slaves somewhere 4:30 pm and God been so wonderful we each navrongo successfully and when we each navrongo, we stop and do something in town before we went back to our hostel. It was really nice being there and I will like to use this opportunity to invite some of my friends to also go and see what I saw there.
