THE BLIND MAN AND HIS SON

Once upon a time, there lived a blind man and his son with their horse. The wife of this blind man passed away some few years ago. This family were poor but because of them being peasant farmers, they didn't lack what to eat and what to wear because they always have a good harvest which could take them through out the year.

One year, the worse happened when they had a low yield and consumed all their food stuff before another harvesting period sets in.

So the man decided to sell the horse and reason was, he said " we don't have much to feed ourselves not to even talk of feeding this horse so it will be better if we sell this horse and get ourselves some food stuff ". It was then he called his only son and asked him to take the horse to the market and sell it but he added this, he said " whoever buys the horse and says GOD BLESS give it to him irrespective of the price he or she is buying ".

The son set off to the market and when he got there, the first person to bargain the pricing said he will buy it at 5, 000 Ghana cedis ( presumed ) and when he gave the horse to the buyer he didn't said God Bless and the son called him back and said " please wait for me let me rush to the house and ask my father if he is okay with the amount " and the man said no problem.

When he got to the house, he told his father about the amount the buyer bought without saying God Bless then his father said he should not sell the horse to the buyer. He went back to the market and told the buyer that his father said he should not sell the horse to him and the buyer asked if the money is small but the boy said it is not about the amount that his father has a special reason.

This continued for about two more market days with people pricing above and below the previous buyer's price but none of them did said God Bless so the boy couldn't sell the horse to any of them.

One-day, he went to the market as usual and couldn't sell the horse again. On his way home, he came across an old man carrying a bunch of grass tied up with a rope. When the old man saw the boy and his horse, he asked

Old man: my son are you selling this your horse?

Boy: yes please

Old man: I don't have any money that can buy this your horse but I would have loved to buy it.

Boy: So what are you going to use and buy the horse if you are saying you don't have money?

Old man: I only have this bunch of grass, if you can take it and give me your horse God will bless you and your family.

Boy: I will give you the horse and take the grass because my father said I should give it to anyone who says GOD BLESS irrespective of the amount he or she is buying.

Old man: Okay, thank you very much may God richly and abundantly bless you, your father and the whole family.

Boy: Amen!

The boy gave the horse to the old man and took the grass. When he got to the house, he told his father the blind man what happened between him and the old man. His father said he should put the grass at the corner of their kitchen and so the boy did.

The next morning, the blind old man asked his son to go to the farm and bring the remaining tubers of yam for them to consume and think of where to get food for another meal.

When the boy left for the farm after about 30 minutes ago, the blind old man thought it wise to set fire and wait for his son to return so that they can cook fast and eat because he was starving.

He removed some of the grass from the bunch of grass his son exchanged with the horse and added to some firewood in order to make it easy to light the fire. When he stroked a matches and put on the grass, the moment smoke started sparking from the grass, he started gaining his eyesight and after some few seconds, he fully regained his eyesight.

When his son returned from the farm, he narrated the story to him and they rejoiced to an extend that their neighbors had to go to their compound to find out what was happening and the man narrated the story to them with excitement.

The rumors quickly spread through the village and that of the surrounding villages in no time.

Fast forward people started bringing their relatives who are blind to them for help and whenever they light the grass, that blind person will gain his or her eyesight.

That was how they started gaining riches because whoever they have helped will come back with either an animal, cowries or gold and give to them as a gift of appreciation.

What have we learnt from the above story?

  • Never underestimate the power of God Bless.

  • Always try your possible best to gain blessings from your parents and elderly people in the society.

  • Try not to go against what your parents ask you to do and what not to do.

  • It's not everytime we should be enthusiastic about money, the God bless you which that elderly person has said to you may give you the wealth you have never dreamt of. Even if you don't see it today, but it will one-way or the other affect you some day.

  • Always depend on God because he has different ways of blessing his servant.

THE LION AND THE RABBIT

Once upon a time, there lived Mr Lion in a forest. One-day, Mr Lion went out in search for food but unfortunately on his side, he was caught in a cage trap that was set by a hunter.

He roared for help but no one was around to help him, he continued roaring till he became exhausted and was laying in the cage helplessly.

Mr Rabbit who had happened to be hopping around the forest came across Mr Lion and this was the conversation between them.

Mr Lion: Thank God, finally someone is here. Hello Mr Rabbit.

Mr Rabbit : Hello Mr Lion, how did get in there?

Mr Lion : I was doing some rounds as usual to see if I can get something this morning to eat but instead, I found myself in here. Please help me out and I will reward you.

Mr Rabbit : The way am looking at you, you must be very hungry because you haven't eaten since morning and if I help you out you will chop me without hesitation.

Mr Lion : Nooo!!! How can I do that to someone who has set me free? I promise not to chop you if you set me free.

Mr Rabbit : Okay, just hold on a bit

Mr Rabbit helped Mr Lion out of the cage

Mr Lion: Thank you very much Mr Rabbit but about my promise not to chop you, you know since in the morning I have not eaten anything and right now I'm extremely hungry and I will have to go back on my words.

Ms Zebra heard the noise and came closer to understand what was going on.

Mr Rabbit narrated the story to Ms Zebra but because Ms Zebra was afraid that if she tells Mr Lion that he should let Mr Rabbit, he may let Mr Rabbit go and chop him instead. Because of that, Ms Zebra couldn't solve the the problem and went her way leaving them.

Some different animals also came to check if they can solve the problem but whenever the story is narrated, they will be forced to leave with the same reason as Ms Zebra till Mr Tortoise came.

Mr Tortoise : What is happening?

Mr Rabbit : I was just hopping around ( narrated the whole story )

Mr Tortoise : Mr Lion is that true?

Mr Lion : Yes that is true.

Mr Tortoise : Am still not understanding whole thing. Please Mr Lion step into the cage and we will lock you up so that Mr Rabbit will demonstrate to me, I think in that way I will get a better understanding.

Mr Lion : Okay, that is not a problem so far as you will get a better understanding that way.

Mr Lion foolishly entered the cage and was locked up.

Mr Tortoise : Mr Rabbit, now that Mr Lion is locked in the cage run for your life. To you Mr Lion, from today you will be food to the hunter not someone been food to you. You senseless animal.

That was how Mr Rabbit escaped death that day all thanks to Mr Tortoise for his smartness.

What have we learnt from this story too?

  • Never trust anyone

  • Try to always use your small brain to solve bigger problems.

  • Try to always stand for the truth and for justice.

These are some of the stories I have been acting upon their lessons that I have learnt from them especially the first story and I can say they are helpful and am edging everyone to also try to act upon these lessons.

Thanks for visiting. Please vote, comment and follow.

Remember, ALWAYS SMILE
