Greetings everyone, and welcome to @steem-ghana blog.

Today, I present the report on the meetup we held this weekend.

During the course of the week, an adjustment was made regarding the time and date of our meetup. This is because, fixing the time the night before Monday seemed unfavorable to many of us since preparations need to be made towards the week day's activities. As such, we arrived at a consensus that the ideal time day for this meetup should be Saturdays and the time should be 7:30 p.m. This gives us ample time to do several discussions so that latest by 9 p.m , we can be done.

ABOUT THE MEETUP

The theme for this weekend's meetup was the use of markdowns. It was quite an educative session that started off with the need to produce quality contents. This is because, we have realized that most newcomers face lots of challenges concerning the proper styling and presentation of their content.

And although the newcomer's community has been doing a great job in the education of newcomers, personal interactions will further boost their interest. Useful tips and links were provided along the line including;

Also another very important markdown we learnt an important tip to know how a person utilized the markdowns.

  • For instance, if a writer has used some very nice markdowns you find attractive, we can figure out how they did it by simply editing and replacing just "steemit" with "steemd" as seen below.

Say we want to see which markdowns were used in the post below. We simply have to make the following adjustments.

Dealing with the future

Now open the post and make the following adjustment to the link.

You can now view the markdowns in the post below.

We further had lots of questions trooping in which were promptly addressed. Other things we spoke about included;

  • We spoke about how severe the act of plagiarism is and the consequences associated with it. It really enlightened some of our newcomers who were not aware of this.

  • One of our newcomers also had concerns about why the 15 SP they see upon signing up tends to reduce as time goes by. We then took time to explain how newcomers are given approx. 15 SP delegation upon sign up. This basically means that it is a "loan" which is not yours and must be returned to the owner.

  • We are also considering having another meetup now that our numbers are increasing. But the thing is that we are in different parts of the country so for now we think mini meetups will be ideal while we think of something big soon.

Below are some screenshots of what transpired on our telegram page.
