My Most Memorable Moment on Steemit: My Tragic Experience on Steem Blockchain

Dear Steamians,

I am very thankful to @nattybongo for providing this opportunity in the form of this contest for us to share our memorable moments on this esteemed platform. Some memories are better forgotten but would like to share with you, one of my worst experiences on the Steem Blockchain.

The most anticipated seven(7) days was due for my Achievement 1Task post. Having waited from the first day I made the post, it has finally shown its head. I couldn't even have a good sleep the night before because I was very eager to imaging getting my first payout on Steemit. I had already made a budget for the money although it hasn't come, little did I know all my anticipation was going to be in vain.

I joined Steem last month(March) as it was introduced to me by @cherub27. He explained to me all that Steemit is about, which motivated me as a student to join because I can blog for free and also earn a substantial income from it. I became very excited as I can earn income to support my undergraduate education.

This sad moment occurred on the night of 6th of April 2021. After receiving my payout and redeeming the reward on the 5th of April 2021, I decided to withdraw my Steem dollars(SBD) which was 3.229 I earned on my Achievement 1 Task post. I badly needed the money as a student to purchase a calculator and some important handouts for the preparation for my exams, I headed to the hostel of @cherub27 for him to show me how I can trade my Steem dollars for money(cedis).

The Reward claimed from Achievement 1 Task post

He taught me about using an app called Binance to trade my Steem dollars(SBD) to Tether(USDT) which is a stable cryptocurrency. This was very interesting to me as the trading of cryptocurrencies was one of the reasons that attracted and made my interest in Steemit grow. Since it was an evening, and creating an account on Binance and getting your account verified can take a maximum of ten days so I decided to send it to @cherub27 so he could trade it for me with his account on Binance.

The Binance App

This is where I made a grave mistake by omitting 27 from the @cherub27 username and sending my Steem dollars(SBD) to a different account @cherub. Since I didn't notice my mistake I asked @cherub27 to confirm if he had received my SBD. He said the transaction hasn't reflected in his Steem Wallet so I told him to reload the page and still nothing was found. He told me to check my transaction history and to our surprise, I had mistakenly transferred it to the account @cherub which meant my SBD was thrown in the wind.

My Transaction History

I was so down and disappointed that I felt a rumble in my stomach that night. I couldn't even sleep as I was thinking of how I have waited for a week-long to cash upon the post to buy myself a calculator and some important handouts and to send it all away. I was so downhearted the evening that I thought of leaving the Steem Blockchain when I found out that the account I mistakenly sent my SBD to was dormant and hasn't been active for the past four(4) years and he/she hasn't posted or blog that I could have drawn his/her attention to my mistaken transaction by commenting on his post and maybe he/she could have sent me my 3.229SBD back.

The Dormant Account and its Transaction History

I became broken but due to some encouragement from @cherub27,@Kondua,@debbyann, and @albertodecrutor to keep the Steemit fire blazing in my heart and keep on blogging with Steemit while hoping for a rainy day made me motivated and excited to be part of this beautiful family on Steemit Blockchain.

Thanks once again to @nattybongo for this contest and @steemcurator01 and @steemcurator02 for their massive support for this initiative.
Thank you all for your attention.
