Buɣum Chuɣu (Fire Festival)- My favorite Traditional Festival.
Let’s go back to the North. They call it North but we call it home. The northern part of Ghana knows many things. I will use this opportunity to tell this ecosystem that if you have never been to the north, all the things they tell you about it are lies. Until you go there and feel humanity's love, you will never know there is a place as peaceful as the north. Also, it’s not a village as many pictures it to be. Make a date to visit us to see how nature is.

Now back to the contest. The only festival I call it. The greatest of festivals I will say it is. That’s the Begum festival. Festivals are known for how it brings people together to have fun and show love. This festival isn’t an expectation. Let me tell you how it is.
WHY WE CELEBRATE IT
Source
The begum festival from history is from a king of our home who lost his child. They were in search of the child till it was night. The King didn’t what them to stop because the child was precious to him. He continued the journey. Since it wasn’t the modern era. There wasn’t anything like touch light or anything. This was when they suggested using the grass to tie up and then light it with fire. That was how their journey in the dark became bright.

They continued till they found the child under a certain tree. They rejoiced in that victory. The king was pleased. Since they had no use of the lights again, they threw them on top of the tree and then matched home with joy. They reached the king’s home, had fun, and then left for their homes.
That was how the festival came into being. Isn’t it lonely?
HOW IT’S CELEBRATED.
On this day, the day the King pours libation to the gods. They don’t only celebrate it at the night. They do some preparations before nighttime. Anyone with his charms, today is the day they call unto them because it’s like that day is the day of the gods and it works perfectly fine. So, the king called to the gods, to strengthen the land, and then make everyone ready for the night. Members of the land also call unto their charms to get ready for the night.

At the night, everyone gathers at the king’s palace. We take some words of motivation and what we should do out there from the king. Not just anyone who lights his fire on that day but the King does that first. He goes forward small then we all light. He follows us through the celebration. We sing songs while walking with the firelight high in the skies.

It’s a good experience. The last part of the journey is where we will throw the fire on the tree. When that is done, a U-turn to the king’s palace is what is advised. We all come back to the king’s palace for some noise-making and then everyone disperses. That’s how the festival is celebrated.
Benefits
It brings families together; this is just like any other festive season whereby everyone comes home. We all come home as dagobas to celebrate it. This is what keeps us together as one.
Another thing is the unity it brings. We come and there is a big bowl served with food. We all put our hands inside and eat. We believe it brings unity and keeps us together. This is what it can do.
These are some benefits I will share but more are there.
CONCLUSION

This is a great festival I have shared here. It should be in the books of history. The way it’s celebrated is unmatched and I love it so much. I will wish everyone here will one day get the chance to celebrate it. Come to the north let’s have fun with the Begum festival. Let me hear you say, Yoo Yoo Yoo Yaa Yo, That’s the song we sing while we celebrate.
Hope you enjoyed the festival by just reading?
