Not long ago in the land of Yagbe, there existed a strange law. It was equaled no matter your lineage. It destroyed many and optimistic of destroying more. It was too hard to do away with. Many innocent and good people lost their lives due to this law. Almost all the kings had never cared about the people. The land was full of wealth. The rulers ruled for wealth, not for the people. The land was an interesting place everyone even strangers enjoyed until the law was passed in 1800 by the land’s 5th king. He was Kubli Ayigya. The law was: no stranger should be allowed into the land no matter the situation. If you violate the law, then you should be executed no matter your lineage.

Yaw with his lovely wife, Mariam, are the current rulers of this sacred land. They allowed the people so much freedom. The people enjoyed themselves well in the land. No worries, no fear, and everyone lived contentedly. Wealth was immense that you couldn’t even differentiate the king from the people. They enjoyed this for a century till when the people thought they were more influential than Yaw and started threatening to kill him. They had the wealth and could use it for whatever anyhow. The people were greedy and wanted more. They wanted a way through the king to make everything in the land theirs.

Yaw was a wise man. He was old. He didn’t know what will become of his wife if he dies. She was pregnant and it was due. Yaw had three strong children, and he trusted them with his life. Yaw’s sons, Zabli, Kugli, and Zahm, were part of the evil people trying to eliminate their father. Yaw took Mariam to the outskirts of the land and told his three sons to guide her. Mariam didn’t want him to go back, but he insisted by saying “It’s our land if I don’t make it safe and run, then how do you expert my sons and my unborn child to always be safe? Let me go and settle it. But Zabli, if I don’t return, run with your mother and brothers to the nearest village”. Then, he gave Mariam a necklace of his and said “Put this in his neck when you give birth to the child” He left to Yagbe.

The three brothers started murmuring when their mother was in labor. Zahm then said out loud, “Let’s leave her she will die out of labor, she won’t even give birth and die. Let’s meet the old man on the way and kill him before he gets into the land” Their mother not being conscious asked in a painful tone “What are you planning? If you don’t know who you are and you trying to follow other people, it will come back to haunt you one day.” They looked at her sheepishly and left. She was struggling and shouting for the baby to come out. The three brothers had gone far and were still hearing her roar though but didn’t turn back. Azabila, a hunter from the next village, heard a cry and came to rescue whoever it was. He recognized her as the queen of Yagbe and didn’t want to come closer. On second thought, he drew nearer to help her deliver.

The three brothers on their luck met their father on their way. When their father asked them about his wife, they said she is safe and they are going to help him with the fight against the people of Yagbe. He turned to run and that was when Zahm backstabbed him. He fell and couldn’t make it up. They started telling him what they desired in the land and how they are getting rid of him to enjoy it. Yaw on the verge of death told them, “Life is far more than riches. If you don’t know whom to support when there is a conflict, then I bet you are not my children. But I want you to know, no one will ever hate you in your lineage but those people you are fighting with, will one day get rid of you too. I believe my blood will one day rule. I pray is not one of you” They angrily finished him.

Mariam successfully delivered a baby boy. She lost a lot of blood and didn’t know if she could make it. Mariam told the hunter, “Stranger, Am grateful for your help. I want you to help me with the baby.” Mariam took the baby even though she was in pain and said, “This is Bilinchinsi, take care of him. Never let him know where he is from until you are on your sickbed. Raise him as your own, and don’t let anyone know where he is from. This is his necklace. Put it on him, and tell him that is what you have for him. One day he will know what it is used for.” Her voice faded away as she finishes her last word. She died and the hunter then took the baby from her hands and said “Bilinchinsi, The survivor.”
