How are we doing, fellow contest lovers? By the grace of the Almighty Allah, I am also fine. It is a pleasure to participate in this contest to share my culture and our cultural practices. We learn these cultures and practices through socialization in our society. My culture and its practices are elaborated in the subsequent slides.

What is culture?
Culture can be defined as our way of living life, including our arts, beliefs, and institutions of a population that are chained or connected on a generational basis. Culture is also the community way of life. It embraces the dress, language, religion, art, rituals, and ways of manners of the people in the community. It is also the driver of decisions to be taken in society.

What are the types of culture?
There are variations in our way of living pertaining to different communities. These differences in culture do not have limited styles, but the types specified by Kim Cameroon and Robert Quiinn are the most well known. These are classified as
The Clan

A clan can be seen to be a group which consists of families related to each other. These groups of people may have the same interest. They may live in the same locality or may be far apart. They may share the same culture and vary in their cultural practices. This group grew to form a community and extended to form towns or cities.

The structure of a hierarchy
Hierarchy culture concentrates on maintaining societal beliefs, arts, religions, and ways of dressing. This is to uphold the community's past practices. Its emphasis is on the uniqueness of the culture that the community has upheld for years with no harm to its members.

There are other cultural variations, including adhocracy and the market cultures. As stated earlier, there are many of these types, but the most popular styles are listed above.

There are elements of every culture. These are categorized into divisions of society's way of life. They are society's values (beliefs, principles), customs (clothing, greetings, rituals), marriage and family, government and law, games and leisure, economy and trade, and language and religion.

In addition to its underrated value, important social and economic benefits are being provided by society's culture. Learning and health, increased tolerance, opportunities to come together with others, quality of life, and increased overall well-being for both individuals and communities are some of the benefits of practicing culture.

What are the cultural practices?
Cultural practice can be defined as the exhibition of a tradition or custom within a particular culture. They are done by the people as is, and they have reached it. Some of these practices are:

Religious and spiritual practices

Medical treatment practices:

Forms of artistic expression

dietary preferences and culinary practices.

Cultural institutions

Natural resource management

Housing and construction.

Childcare practices

Governance, leadership, conflict resolution.

Relationships with power

International cultural practices

"Everyday life" practices (including household relationships)

Cultural dance is one of the cultural practices that is observed by many cultures. These are in the form of entertainment for people, but they remind them of some past events in society. There are performances by the people to socialize the young ones and remember their ancestors. At this point, I am from the northern part of Ghana, tamale. I would like to describe one of our cultural dances, called "bamaya".

Bamaya
In Ghana, media for expressing social organization, validating institutions, perpetuating values, and promoting group solidarity are used by the people in cultural dances. Bamaya is performed by dagombas in social gatherings. The role this dance plays is very vital to the growth and development of people. The Baamaya dance is performed periodically to remember the occurrence of drought in the 17th century. To find a solution to this calamity, the gods were consulted. Paper for the dance was given to the people.

The name of this was driven from our local word 'baa', which is a clay land where rice can be planted. The other word is "maya", which means cool. These words were combined to form the name of the dance. After the gods revealed this to the people, they danced and there was a heavy rainfall. The paramount chief by then gave the dance the name bamaya. This has been done by the people in the north since the dance was discovered by the people.

Festivals are another cultural practice observed by the people in every culture. They are also symbols of past events for the people of society. These festivals are performed at various locations and times to mark their remembrance of past situations. With practice of my culture, I will elaborate more on the Damba Festival.

The Damba festival originated in the 17th century, at the time of the reign of Naa Zangina, who was the first Muslim to become paramount chief of Yendi. The festival is celebrated over seven days. This is celebrated every year to remember the birth of the prophet Muhammad. This festival comes in two forms or parts. The first one is the Somo Damba, which indicates the birth of the prophet, and the seventh day(Naa Damba), which shows the naming ceremony of the prophet Muhammad. This is done every year by the people in the north.

I am very glad to partake in this contest. This has really helped me remember and understand some of the names of my local cultural dances. Thank you, @silencewan, for your hard work in coming up with this contest. I hope this will help other Steamians to learn about their culture, and I am looking forward to other people's cultures and cultural practices through their entries.
