We live in the 21st Century where a lot of things that were done in the past have been replaced with a single technological device; The Mobile Phone. This single device has evolved over time from only the making of phone calls (the Nokia 3310 age) to performing highly sophisticated functions (the smartphone age).

Though, these activities we did in the past are obsolete today, they however gave people employment and others also had fun doing them.
Below are some of the things we use to do in the past that today are all done using a simple hand-held/pocket size device; the mobile phone.

Workers and even students used letters to seek permission for a leave at work or school. However, it could take a longer time before a letter gets to it's recipient. Good news is, today within a snap of the finger we're able to send and receive information. Thanks to the smartphone.

PHOTOGRAPHY

There use to be this particular camera that used inverted color films to take pictures and later printed out in actual natural colors. This was the kind of pictures that were taken in the past. In those days, it'll take as long as a week or more to get your picture from the photographer. Sometimes too the photographer will just flash the camera light on you and you might believe he'd taken a picture of you.

Today, we have the mobile phone which is able to instantly take and preview high quality pictures as compared to those cameras.

BOOK READING

Have you also noticed that a lot of people prefer reading books on their phones over reading a hard copy book? Yes! it's much common to find such things happening now. Gone are the days when you'll see people reading from hard copy books mostly in public transport, under a tree, in their rooms or in their offices. Even these days, it's hard to find an office which is overly stuffed with hardcopy of books.

Because of the mobile phone, today we have virtual/online libraries where any book of choice can be found and read.

The invent of smart phones has made it a rare attitude to find people carrying a jotter or diary around when attending a meeting or church service. All you see today and all people need to be ready to write something down is a mobile phone. Now, it's common to even find some religious leaders reading the holy scriptures from their phones. In those days, you could simply identify which church someone belonged to by simply taking a glance at the number of Bibles and Jotters he/she is carrying. Funny!

It was really fun as a kid having our neighbors kids come around for us to play Ludo game in our home. We use to play hide and seek and other fun outdoor games too. Today however, all these games have been developed on this same device, the mobile phone. Now you can find Oware, Ludo, and other action video games on the mobile phone which both kids and adults play to release stress at their leisure times.

Thank you for reading.
