Relationships med.habib
Establishing relationships with others at all levels of life is very important. I was told this wonderful story by a dear sister and I think sharing it is worthwhile. I've come to realize something very peculiar about people these days, they make friends with others they think or perceive have some good to offer, ignoring others.

There was this young Nigerian lady, who worked as a clerk in a university. She had co-workers including cleaners, mere security guards etc thus, low salaried-earned workers

On one fruitful day, an advertisement was made about a profession this lady had always had interest and zeal in. She applied and submitted all the necessary particulars.

Having considered her application, she was called to come and have her justification examination at a stipulated time in a different state. Accommodation was now the problem
but luckily on her part, she had an uncle who was a resident in that state. She wrote a letter to him telling him the whole story and how she wished to reside at his place for the examination.

She didn't receive any reply from her uncle as the D-day was also drawing closer. She started getting worried and had to open up and tell one of her co-workers the situation she was in and didn’t know what to do. The mere security guard of the office overheard her and approached them.

He told the lady not to worry about the situation since he knew the General Manager of that particular company. The lady didn’t take him seriously considering his status, “a mere security guard without any certificate and can not even speak proper English” she thought.

This security guard scribbled his name on a piece of paper and gave it to her, and asked her to send it to the manager and everything will be taken care of. Not to make him feel bad, she took the paper.

When the time was due for the examination, she had no option but to leave for uncle’s house since she knew where he was residing. She was dumbfounded and puzzled to have heard that her uncle had moved out with his family last three months and no one also knew where he had moved to.

Night was approaching and she didn’t know what to do, so she finally had to try what the security guard had given her. When she got to the entrance of the company, she told the guard she was looking for the manager but the guard told her the manager was busy and could not receive visitors. She gave the piece of paper to him and pleaded to at least give it to the manager. The guard humbly sent it to the manager.

Upon receiving it by the manager, surprisingly, he ordered the guard to quickly bring the visitor in. When she entered the manager’s office, he curiously asked about his childhood friend, the mere security guard, how he was and other stuff about him. He missed the good times they had together.

The lady was sent to the manager’s house and treated lavishly. She was given a well-furnished room and served well-garnished supper. Later that night, the manager took her through some of the interview questions since he wasn’t the only one granting the interview. She was amazed by all these, she never thought the mere security guard could know a person of this caliber.

Isn’t all this wonderful? The simple lesson here is, we should always humble ourselves to people. No matter the condition you find a person or no matter how the person looks, be humble to him. We don’t know and we will never know what people can offer. Brothers and sisters, your keys to the door of success might be just a phone call a charcoal burner will make. Let’s be humble and build strong relationships with people regardless of their status.
