Societies, the Norms and Values

in Steem Ghana2 years ago

So the question would be, if we were all to come together and decide that tomorrow is not a Thursday but rather a Saturday and that no one ought to go to work tomorrow, what happens then? Who can stop us and what then becomes the normal and what becomes the abnormal?

The line between right and wrong can be very blurry, what we define or consider to be right or wrong is based on what society has defined for us to be so, what about our thoughts and ideologies? What defines our values and how can we find ourselves, our thoughts, and our worth amid all the confusion?

We can easily be misdirected by society, by what the general crowd or population deems to be right, and when care is not taken we would end up doing the wrong thing and considering it to be the right thing. We have to be in the know, we have to learn from more than our immediate environment, and we have to ask questions and probe what society defines.

We shouldn't take things off face value, There have been lots of times that society had been wrong, and it took people challenging these decisions, thoughts, norms, and values for things to be realized and for those who may have been involved to be emancipated.

You may have heard of some cultural practices like Female Genital Mutilation which was practiced in some parts of Africa before civilization, society then thought it was normal, it was a good practice until their reasons were proven not good enough to subject the girl child to such cruelty. And so do question society, don't follow blindly, this way you get to always do things for yourself.

Hahaha.. I love this post. I'm not one to comment a lot but this piece caught my attention. Of course, society has manipulated everything we've ever done as humans. Even in the good book, a part of it says something like there'd be no transgression if there were no laws in the first place. Society or however we may choose to call it make most of these rules to restrict some things..and other times, you can't help but think of how some laws came to being or some things got accepted as normal. Some were barbaric, and some existing ones still are.
And like you clearly communicated, we (as a world) have made some things what they are and we can still change them. It might not be this our generation but I believe things will keep changing as the world keeps changing too.
Think of money for instance, what's money when there are no people? Or when we choose not to use it? We can make money useless right now😅 I strongly believe there'll be a time, thousands of years ahead of us, when we are all gone, some things like money won't be a thing. And that's all because of us, we changed it.
Thanks for this piece, I can't say I didn't enjoy. Take care✌🏽

There is no doubt about the fact that every society has it own rules and regulations. It is therefore appropriate to find which society you are in and then learn from them.It is very important not to go against this values and beliefs in wherever you find yourself.

Greetings

We can easily be misdirected by society, by what the general crowd or population deems to be right, and when care is not taken we would end up doing the wrong thing and considering it to be the right thing.

Honestly most time people follow the crowd and end up doing somethings they always regret, its very important to make inquiries about anything that we are about to do.
Nice post i enjoyed reading it.
