Contest Entry: Gender Statistics in Steem-Ghana, what can we do?

Let me begin by saying thanks to our leaders for coming up with this amazing idea of a contest which hopefully will bring some attention to the female statistic on the blockchain and cause us to do more promoter in that regard.

Well i cannot personally give a figure as to the number of males and females that are on the blockchain especially for our community, perhaps our country reps would have those statistic and could later tell us or show us but one could easily tell from the look that the men out number the women. Let's say 5 to 1 or perhaps 10 to 1.

What this means is that the male population dominates the community, not that it is any fault of theirs though, men normally turn out to be more adventurous, curious and more likely to respond to a steem promo to sign up and try their hands on things or learn something. Women on the other hand generally turn out to be passive especially about such things such as blockchain or bitcoin whatever.

If it is not easily understandable, very transparent and then the chances of hoping on board goes down, because we learn to keep to clear cut situations for us due to the nature of our history and how far women have come from the old days to become independent and all. If we are going in then we shouldn't go to mess up else things aint gonna be well for ourselve psychologically and all.

Another reason why i think the men out-weight the women is because been on the blockchain needs time, it is time consuming and needs lots of dedication, in this perspective even the men are having difficulty keeping up and we have great women like @ellabae, @magcarnie, @elyon doing amazing in consistency with some good steem power and powerups too. I guess this means that it is an individual affair, women who are diligent enough will join us and thrive whereas other would fade away.

In all my suggestion to balancing the statistic is to reach out to more women, we ought to be patient with them when we are educating them and enlightening them, we have to also help hold their hands along the earliest part of their journey for the first few months, encouraging and motivating them to go for meetings and other stuff that would help them learn and be independent eventually.

The women - men statistic is not great but something can be done about it and i believe this contest may just be the first step to doing something about it. Thanks for reading and have wonderful time.
