Teachers As Judges

For almost two years now, there has been no sporting activity for students in the senior high schools across the county. This came about as a result of the pandemic COVID-19 disease which placed a complete ban on social gathering and other forms of all sporting activities.

For students and teachers too, we have also had our share of the ban. There's a sating that, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy but in our case we had to cope with this immediate circumstance because it was bad to lose friends and reletives to this deadly disease in iur schools and in our neighbourhoods.

Begging of the new semester, there was a communication on the lifting of the ban on school sporting activities. Quickly a date had to be fixed by every school to engage in their school inter-houses athletics and football games to selected talented students to represent the school for the inter-school regional games and onward selection to represent the region and also to enter the national team proper.

The program started smoothly in the morning with a very warm weather. It drizzled small in the morning so the place was well conditioned for running.

Some colleagues of mine had to do this for the first time so it was really tough for some of them. Others or almost all of them had it difficult to wear spike and had to do the running either barefoot or with socks.

Some of us who couldn’t join in the race had to support our various houses with songs to motivate the athletes to glory. At the end of the program, not only talents are selected but there's also the bragging right which will stand for a year until the next year where fresh students are admitted.

We were lucky to also have some of the board of director of the school to grace the occasion with their presence aside the head and teachers of the school.

Food, drinks and water was available for us to make the program a successful one.

About 5:30pm in the evening, we had to bring everything to a closed. House one St. Pauls whose colour is green emerged as the winners 🏆 with 90 points in all the divisions.

We took the celebrations to the dinning hall to have our supper and later went to have our bath. Most of us were tired so I for instance laid and on bed while others went out of the dormitory to chat and argue with friends.

I woke up in the morning with my phone right beside me. I was already gone while looking at some of the pictures i took yesterday.
