In addition, I will like to use this opportunity to thank @steem-ghana and also By @delakloe for this wonderful contest.
I’m tanking them because, this is really a nice contest for you to tell everyone the history of your town.

In simple terms, A hometown can be defined as the birth town of an individual or a place where an individual lives or the place we’re they gave birth to you and raise you. I was Born and raise in Yendi, I believe and also those who lives in yendi believes that it is very safe to safe in yendi which is my hometown.

The name yendi is in English but in my local deity, it is called Naya or sankara yeli and it simple known as important visitors town.
I hope you the one reading this post can testify that, the name of my hometown alone tells how peace my hometown is and how is so sweet to be in my hometown.
Yendi was founded by a warrior called **Tohazie ( Red hunter) that was in the 1400s to 1600s
He was really a brave man and he did a massive work to yendi and as we all know those days was just all about war. And the war was between villagers, towns etc.

He was a great and a brave hunter on his way from the Mali 🇲🇱 Empire, he settled in the middle of the some village and that bill source of water was over taken by a wail bush cow that killed people.
Red hunter was the one who killed that animal and make the water assemble for the people in the village.

Due to his bravery and his great job he did to the village, he was awarded with the princess of that village.
This history is really a long history and if I start it we can finish..Lol
I will like to talk about how the colonisation took place in my hometown that happened in (1888)

Dagbon became part of the neural zone that was from yeji to yendi, and this was the conflict between the Germans and the British.

In 1896, the Germans killed Dagombas in the battle of Adigboo. Dagombas couldn’t wish stand the weapons of the Germans. So due to that, Dangombas were defeated.

In some years later, the British and Germans spilt Dagbon into two that’s German Togolan and Gold cost. It was later when they allow the Yaa Naa to control his people again.
I really feel vary bad and sorry and sometimes feel like crying 😭 when ever I’m talking about the history of my homework yendi. The kind of hardship our great father and chief’s went through.

Yendi is a significant social community as it is home to the Dagbon conventional chieftaincy seat. The Yaa Naa lives in Yendi where he has his court/royal residence. The seat has consistently drawn in wrong political interfering bringing about the ruthless homicide of the past tenant of the seat Naa Yaa Andani Yakubu. The chieftaincy has 2 families; the Andanis and Abudus from which the overlord is picked.
Yendi was the peace home. I’m calling it the peace home because, yendi was the only place we’re a visitor could found his or her here and accommodation is free for that person.
People living in yendi accept everyone who found him or her self in yendi.

The only thing that spoiled Yendi’S name was what happened in 2002 and it was a chieftaincy confit.
That time, it was Yaa Naa Yakubu Adani who was the Over lord king of yendi.

He rule yendi for over 15 years and as I said earlier the royal family are two. And the rule is that, till the one ruling die they can’t pick another chief again.
This is how they choose a chief. If family one is ruling and the one being the Chief die then family two will pick a leader to become the chief.
So after the Yaa naa Yakubu Adani died, this was the two men who qualified to become the chief of yendi.

This was how it was and Yaa Naa Yakubu Adani become the chief for a long time and the other royal family were tired and they decided to start that conflict that he must resign from being the chief and we all know that the rule is till he die no one can be come a chief. So they decided to killed him before his time.

So due to that conflict, yendi have been there for like 15 years without a chief. It was later in 2018 his excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo came and settled that conflict that makes us to stay for over 15 years without a chief.
And our current Chief is Kampakuya Naa Abdulai Yakubu Andani

So after everything settle, everything in yendi is now cool but that a lot of people out there still speak 🗣 bad out my hometown which is not true.
A lot of visitors who found them here in yendi confessed that, yendi is the most peaceful and loving place to be and also cost of living in yendi is less costly.

This are some of the cultural festival people of yendi celebrate

  • Bugum chugu (popularly known as fire festival)
  • Damba festival
