Happy Anniversary Mama
My birthday is a few hours away and I was just wondering how this year's celebration is going to be like. I was thinking of what to get my twin sister when it suddenly struck me that we're not the only ones that need to be celebrated. What about Mama?
Some 20 years ago she conceived for the first time. She was still a trader then, trooping from one region to the other. Those were the early days of the 21st century so health care was not as improved as it is now. She didn't know she was going to have twins. I still enjoy her stories on how we used to kick hard. After months of enduring, she put to birth and had to endure about an hour of labor. My twin sister and I were 30 minutes apart , and well, I was the one who weighed most.
She watched us grow, she consoled us when we were hurt and encouraged us when we were down. A year and half after birth, a tragedy happened. My twin sister accidentally fell in a bucket of hot water and sustained severe burns. Children were not allowed into the ward so I had to part ways with my parents till my sister got discharged because my parents literally spent dawn to dusk by her side. You can imagine the frustration mama had to go through. She cried most of the time and knowing that breaks my hurt to pieces. After that dilemma, my sister had series of convulsions and though mummy panicked most of the times, she chose to be brave and made sure she was her little baby's strength.
Over the years, she has supported us in every possible way. She is my idol. For all her sacrifices and unconditional love, I hate to see her suffer, be in pain or feel remorseful. She is a fighter and taught me literally everything I know. If I have successfully survived two decades on earth, it's because God placed her in my life. She deserves to be celebrated. No material thing or words can express my gratitude. It is only God who can adequately reward her. Someone should please whisper to mama that I love her more than she can imagine.
