Just a Story ๐Ÿ™‚

This is just some story that you might find interesting, and perhaps get motivated by it.
I couldn't really come up with a suitable title but I hope you like it and also serve the purpose for which it was written.

It was the end of the year and a King decided to go hunting with his servant. He wanted to get some game for a feast to celebrate the end of the year.
As these two men walked in the forest, they heard a low deep growl, like that of a big cat.
They decided to ignore and continue with their walking but the "angry" growl kept getting louder and clearer, they were moving towards where the animal was.

When the king realised that they were in danger of being attacked by this wild cat, he decided to cock his gun and shoot in that direction but alas, it was too late. The animal, a tiger, jumped and pounced on the poor king!
The king struggled with the animal and wounded it with his dagger but the tiger bit his right thumb and lept off hurriedly in pain..

After the tiger was gone, the king angrily turned on his servant, beating him up. "You're useless!... That thing almost ate me but you couldn't even save me! Do you wish I die?" , the furious king roared. The poor servant, still shocked from what had happened couldn't utter a word and the king left him alone and went to the castle.
When the servant got to the castle, the king ordered him to be locked away as a punishment for failing to protect him.

King orders them to imprison servant

From then on, the king always hid his right hand away from everyone by wearing a leather glove.

It wasn't long before the king got another personal servant/guard. Another year had passed and the old servant was still incarcerated.
The king, as usual decided to go for hunting with his servant at the end of the year.
As they were going, they got ambushed by a group of people which appeared to be a kind of cult or some group of that sort that needed blood for a sacrifice ( it was the end of the year, everyone was offering sacrifices and thanksgiving to their deities).

They took the two men to their sacrificial grounds and killed the servant first. The ritual seemed to have gone well because they all jubilated.
But when it was the king's turn, they took off his glove and realised he was blemished; he had no right thumb and therefore wasn't fit to to be used as a sacrifice!

Blemished King!

They let the fear-stricken king alone and he sped off to his castle to announce to the people about the horrors he'd seen and how lucky he got..

That night, when the King went to bed, he thought hard about what happened and realised he only got lucky because of his lost thumb and he only lost that thumb because his old servant didn't intervene when he was attacked by the tiger.
The next day, he ordered for the old servant to be released; when he came back to the castle, the king told him about all that happened.
"This is a real blessing in disguise, and I apologise for everything that's happened" the king said.

The servant was more than happy because he had finally gained back his freedom and wasn't really listening or just didn't care about what was going on. He told the king he didn't have to apologise for anything and that it was meant to happen. Just before they were about parting, it struck the servant about how lucky he himself had also got.
He bowed down to the king and thanked him for keeping him in the prison.
" I was always sulking because I had been put in prison, but after what's happened, I have also realised it was a blessing in disguise for me too.." the servant said.

" You see if I had the courage to intervene and killed the big cat, you would still have your thumb, right?" asked the servant.

"Oh yes, but I would be meat for their gods by now, you know ", the king said jokingly.

"But if I saved you, you would've still kept me as your servant and I would be dead too by now๐Ÿ˜ฒ" the servant said.

" yes, that's true. This actually tells us that everything happens for a reason" the king concluded sharply..

So the king took the man back as his personal servant and went with him wherever he went. But this time, they were two changed people walking, the king blamed less and the servant was always thankful and became more courageous.
(This is the part where you can add, "and they lived on happily ever after" ๐Ÿ˜„).

I heard this story a long time ago. I have made many changes in it for the sake of the readers but it's still the same story or passes the same information. My dad told me this story when I was younger and it has been always been in my mind.
I don't believe in coincidences; I believe that everything that happened, was supposed to happen for a good (or bad) reason. I know many people won't side with me on this. I've had people who were ready to argue about this but I know we all got different perspectives about life so I don't really pay attention to them๐Ÿ˜„.

I know some of us have heard this story before...
If this is your first time, did you like it? Any comments on it?

And oh, what title do you think will fit this story? ("The king and the servant" is not accepted, ha-ha)

Thanks for visiting and may God be with us all.๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ๐ŸคŸ๐Ÿฟ

@the-gorilla, ever heard or read this??

No - it's a new one to me. You'd think that when they go out hunting, they'd be more attentive to their surroundings. This is an important lesson on appreciating your environment and paying attention ๐Ÿ˜†

A valuable lesson was learned here. Everything happens for a reason.

I wonder if this happens in real life though. Finding the king unworthy of the sacrifice, he would have been killed regardless because their secret has to be kept. Then again, it's a story that teaches us how to value our existence and accept events as they come

That's a great insight. Thank you brother.
Hope you're alright??

Very educative, everything happens for a special reason, the King wasn't killed due to what he thought was an accident. Great lesson, thanks for sharing.

Yes... thanks for sharing your views..

The lesson are more than what I can think of. I think the king should have been the one to be use for the secrifice for the first time and that would have prevented the servant from been secrifice.

Anyway it is a great story and thanks for sharing.

The king would've still been spared because he wasn't fit to be used as a sacrifice..so the servant was destined to die that day ๐Ÿ˜…
