The Importance of Vitamin D, The Sunshine Vitamin

We all have heard of vitamin D before one way or the other, popularly known to be associated with the sun, many spend their time walking through the sun, basking on a beach, etc. because they are looking for vitamin D. Well, Vitamin is indeed the sunshine vitamin.

But walking through the sun or basking in the sun at the wrong time may be more detrimental to your health than you could imagine because the rays from the sun come in different forms of Ultraviolet and some of them are not very gentle on your skin. That said, the sun does help us in vitamin D production, and as such early morning sunshine could do you a lot of good.


Benefits of Vitamin D


The benefits of vitamin d cannot be underestimated, vitamin does a whole lot for us than we mostly give credit for, we don't focus on it because the system produces itself, and hardly do incidents of vitamin D deficiency occurs but today we get to share and give vitamin D the due.

In school, we learn that vitamin give us strong bones and teeth but in fact what happens is that it regulates the minerals calcium and phosphorus which are critical to our bones and teeth formation and development, and that when these are not in adequate amounts in our system then our bones would get weak and deform under our weight and pressure.

Vitamin D also acts as an antioxidant in our system, what this means is that when free radicals which are basically like rolling stones causing damage in their parts no discriminatory of who gets hurt or who falls in its parts, goes about causing harm to our bodies vitamin D neutralizes them and makes our systems a safer place for our cells, tissues, and organs.

Vitamin D boosts our immune system too and helps us fight and stay resistant to certain diseases or conditions. This is why during the covid season some researchers suggested that a deficiency in vitamin D may make one more susceptible to getting the covid virus or developing deadly symptoms quickly.

Vitamin D is normally produced in enough quantities by our bodies daily and so one may not need supplementation unless in severe cases or cases of deficiency or genetic cases where the body may not be able to do some. Just as the saying goes too much of everything may be bad and this applies to vitamin D too so watch your supplementation.

Vitamin D is a beautiful vitamin that does a whole lot for us from the cellular level to the organ system level. Let's do well to appreciate it as well as patronize it. Love you sunshine but be safe from sunburns, best time to get vitamin D in the early morning beautiful sunshine, on the bright sunny noon, stay away because you may be causing yourself harm...

Great post here, Thanks for sharing with us some of the benefits of the early morning sun. Yh, its not advisable to be under the sun in hot afternoon its only the early morning sun that is required.
