Life as Health Worker

My work as a midwife is something i would choose over and again when given the same opportunity. I believe many health workers hear may be able to relate when i say that our work is full of love and fun, although we cannot dispute the fact that the stress is also very much there and well sometimes the money doesn't correlate but we still love it.

I love it because i get to work with my fellow man on other men, I get to save lives sometimes which is a thrilling feeling that never escapes you, that adrenaline rush and the sigh that comes along with when a patient has finally been stabilized after a long term battle with life and death or having to do some emergency procedures and all.

The life of a health worker is one that involves having patient people in your life, people who understand you and can relate in a lot of ways, you get to work in shits and i must say that night shifts are one of the best and yet difficult. Best in the sense that when everything is calm and working well and emergencies don't rush in you get to also rest whiles at work.

On the other hand when lots of things are going on and you have a whole lot on your plate, working at night could be very difficult especially when you are not well prepared in terms of having had enough sleep or something before the evening. For those of us midwives, well, people give birth more in the evenings and at night than any other time so, no rest for us.

But then when you get hold of those tiny little babies after successful delivery, your heart melts in awe, and all you can feel around you is love and the beauty in creation. Such an experience is one that cannot be underemphasized or estimated, perhaps i ought to invite you to the ward to check it out one of these days. But just as i said, i would chose my job any day any time over and again....
