Steemit Was Born Out of Mutual Aid: Support Others As You Wish To Be Supported
The founders of Steemit did an incredible work with the blockchain technology. I have become a beneficiary of this amazing technology that has remained promising since 2016. The steem blockchain keeps powering communities and powering people by giving out rewards. We can all attest to the impacts steem has made in the lives of many people around the continents of the world.
Steemit was born out of the idea of mutual aid.
When Ned Scott the former CEO of Steemit was asked what actually prompted and inspired them(Ned and Dan) to found Steemit, this is what he said:
Dan and I are similar in that we are motivated by the idea that we can improve the way of life for othersSource
He continued by adding more :
Steem was born out of ideas about insurance and mutual aid: it was the idea that people would be able to help each other peer-to-peer if they were struggling to solve problems or needed assistance. Source
We can see from their great ideas that they were motivated to help others, to create a system where members will be helping each other. This is a wonderful and life changing idea that originated from two slefless leaders. I draw so much inspiration for them and would like to also improve the way of life for others.
They incorporated "others" in their plans and it clearly shows they were not self centered. Their goodwill still continues and we still live by this idea of helping others on Steemit, without it there will be no Steemit.
Today, If I should make a list of kindhearted people who are helping steem to grow I will enlist @steemcurator01, @stephenkendal whose wonderful support is promoting Steem massively. It's their support that help us in carrying out steem Promo work. We should learn to do same with even our little upvotes and good comments on others post.
We can't grow by being self centered
The strength behind Steemit is Steem, it is what actually powers its operation. This wonderful platform was built on love and mutual support, it is what has made Steemit what it is all these years.
This kind of love must be shared around. We will all be happy if we do this. The happiest people in the world aren't those who have great wealth or power, they are those who are so much concerned with the happiness of others. I do not see the essence of having SP and not putting it to a good use. Not only will you deny others of upvote but you will also loose the curation rewards you could have gained if you had put the SP to work.
I also do not see why it should be hard for experienced steemians to support newbies. Our little support in terms of steem education, motivations, upvotes and comments can help keep them on Steemit. We can make a great impact not just by promoting Steem but also supporting ourselves.
