You may have seen videos and pictures about wolves but do you truly know how to distinguish them from other animals in the same genus? Don't worry today, today I will be sharing with you my insights on the anatomy of wolves.
Wolves are quadrupeds with a thin body, deep chest, and long bushy tails, according to their external anatomy. With a short pointed nose and huge ears, the head is enormous. It has shaggy fur.

Wolves have long legs with distinct bones in the forelimbs and no collar bone, according to their skeletal structure. The strong jaw muscles are attached to the skull by a ridge called the sagittal crest. Wolves are lean, athletic creatures. Muscles can be found in the neck, shoulders, and hips. Fine motions are vital in visual communication, and smaller muscles in the face and tail allow for them.

Wolves are clever creatures with exceptional vision, hearing, and a keen sense of smell. Wolves have an extra olfactory sense because of the vomeronasal organ at the roof of their mouth. Wolves have a typical mammalian circulation and are warm-blooded. The larynx and vocal cords can generate a variety of vocalizations, and the lungs are huge.

Wolves are ferocious predators with carnassial teeth for shredding prey. The gut is small and straightforward. A pair of efficient kidneys eliminate metabolic waste from the blood. Female wolves have litters of eight or ten cubs and feed them milk from their nipples. A baculum is a male reproductive organ (penis bone). Wolves are gregarious creatures who live in daily packs.
