Spectacles or Contact Lenses

Today we are going to look at two things that many patients ask questions about and help you make decisions for yourself very shortly based on knowledge and understanding. We do hope you enjoy the discussion about glasses and contact lenses.

Glasses

This question doesn't have a straightforward answer and a lot of times when patients ask this question I tend to give them as much information as I can to help them make their own decisions through guidance. This is what we seek to do today, so let's look at spectacles first.

Spectacles are the most common means of refractive error correction and their nature allows the use of photochromic tints to keep UV away from the eyes as well as the use of blue-block tints for protection from electronic screens and the anti-reflective coating that helps a lot with night driving.

Spectacles come in a variety of frame shapes and sizes, beautiful colors that can be made to compliment the beauty of the wearer and you got options to have more than one in ways that can match up to, however, your day may be or the dressing you seek to go with.

Again, spectacles are less expensive as compared to contact lenses, easy to make, and easy to maintain. You only need your lens cleaner and your cleaning cloth. Should you lose or break it, it can easily be replaced within a day or two and you will be just fine.

Contact Lenses

Contact lenses serve the same purpose as spectacles in terms of vision correction and have the bonus of it being almost inconspicuous except for those with color. It is best suited for those whose job description doesn't allow them to wear spectacles.

You need only follow the rules that guide contact lens usage and you will be just fine, it also comes with colorful lenses that can change the color appearance of your Iris. It is relatively more expensive and a bit difficult to maintain however you get to choose from a range of either RPG lenses or soft lenses.

It is not easily accessible to people in developing countries which could be a downside however you can stock up and take them with you wherever you go. Also if you are using RPGs you can reuse them over and again.
