TRAILING A SHADOW

Sauntering around this surface
Permits no corresponding pause
When there's no known source
That the mind can easily trace

The image remains truly in situ
Standing as the light turns
Or an object moves and turns
While the miming continues too

Mysterious and amazing gestures
Replicated in the overtly dark image
Sends terrifying postures and message
As the originality is visible in the ventures

In this vicious cycle of inseparability
The trail can't be simply halted
Neither can the presence be faulted
As the duo live incompatibility

Life is like trailing a shadow
Because our desires remain with us
Like a lady's much-cherished purse
That can't be thrown out of the window.
