THEME OF THE DAY - DAILY CHALLENGE: MYSTERY | @sanyazulfiqar

Hello Steemians!

Every time I itch for a good mystery, I usually go for Agatha Christie or Karen McManus (because they never disappoint) but today instead of picking either for the Sunday Mystery theme, I wanted to go for a recent read that blew my mind – The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes.

What makes this book exceptional are the plot twists after every chapter and mind you, there are more than fifty! It would not be a lie if I say that the story is a modern take on Cinderella because underprivileged, young Avery Grambs, with a deceased mother and careless dad, who sleeps in a car, has just inherited the entire Hawthorne fortune. Not millions. Billions. Even the humungous mansion, which is no less than a castle itself (with secret passageways). But, that’s not even close to the most interesting bit. Avery has no idea who Tobias Hawthorne is – the man who left all his riches to her and dispossessed his entire family.

Why is Avery so special to him? That’s what she has to find out and accompanying her are the handsome, irresistible Hawthorne brothers (grandsons of Tobias Hawthorne), infamous for being nothing but trouble – Grayson (who was supposed to be the inheritor), Jameson (the mysterious one who initiates to help Avery), Nash (who cannot care less about the wealth) and Xander (the die-hard scones lover).

The narrative is fast-paced and chapters short that keep the readers hooked till the very end. You may form various theories as to the connection between Avery Grambs and Tobias Hawthorne but it is unlikely you will be able to predict it. The new book is coming out this year, which means the story has not ended there and there are more mysteries yet to be solved!
