Take your shot!
Going out to take pictures this week surely taught me a valuable lesson in life. I set out to get a go at sunset pictures not far from home. I started early enough (at around 7pm and sunset is not until 8:30-ish) to give me the time to set up properly. When I was all set, I took a testshot.

No matter how hard I tried, the result was never what I wanted. So I blamed it on my skills and lack of a better camera. I tought the dynamic range wasn't quite big enough.
A few months ago however I bought myself a Black Magic Pocker Cinema Camera 6K, for videography purposes. While I was walking home I was thinking, that camera has 13stops DR and has a still function, that ought to do the trick!
All said and done, a day later I went back out to get my sunset picture. I set up as I did the day before and took another testshot.

Again I was disappointed to not get the result I was aiming for, but this time instead of going home I decided to stay and wait for the last part of the sunset. I thought that maybe some magic would happen and the camera would do what I wanted it to do. This time I took a picture at the exact time I planned.

I took peace with the idea I wouldn't get the shot I wanted.
However I made and uploaded a TikTok-video where I told my followers (all 20 :-p) to check the results on my Instagram. So me, not too proud to admit failure decided to upload my pictures in the computer and develop the RAW-files to .jpeg.
How surprised I was that the dark areas had the information I thought I lost because of a too small DR. After I developed the BMPCC images I ran back to my camerabag to get the SD-card out of the Pentax and develop these RAW-files too.
It thought me the valuable lesson, that no matter how grimm things look. You always have to take your shot in life. If you don't you will miss unimaginable experiences and lessons. Sometimes even (like with these pictures) your best result (by my opinion) comes from the worst shot you had!
