Following on with the "dead wood" series, I present this centenary and abandoned carob tree with a disturbing shape. These trees now dot the Ibicencan countryside today and are the result of the abandonment by the peasants, who with the arrival of tourism, stopped working the land to dedicate themselves to the new activity, which was much less demanding. These specimens are a reflection of the social evolution of a place like ours, which survived on a basic economy and was suddenly invaded by an industry, tourism, which was much more attractive for work than cultivating the land.

Siguiendo con la serie "madera muerta" presento este algarrobo centenario y abandonado con una forma inquietante. Estos árboles salpican hoy en día la campiña ibicenca y son fruto del abandono por parte de los campesinos, que con la llegada del turismo, dejaron de trabajar las tierras para dedicarse a la nueva actividad, mucho menos sacrificada. Estos ejemplares son un reflejo de la evolución social de un lugar como el nuestro, que sobrevivía con una economía básica y de pronto se vio invadido por una industria, la turística, mucho más atractiva a nivel laboral que cultivar la tierra.
