Lantana Camara | CONTEST- "FLOWER PHOTOGRAPHY"- WORLDOFXPILAR

Hello @mirla33 and flower lovers. Thank you for the organisation of the flower contest, really attractive.

Almost every day my partner and I go for an afternoon walk, mainly along the old road that used to link our small village with the capital of the island of Ibiza. It runs between old farms with their corresponding dwellings, and both on the edges of the fields and on the fences surrounding the houses, a variety of plants grow during the spring and well into the summer that I am unable to describe. A small number of flowers spring up among them and adorn our walk, and that of the other walkers, making the path a most joyful one.

The image I am submitting to the competition is of this Lantana Camara, in its Mutabilis variety, perhaps the most attractive of the species. According to plantapedia it is native from Central and South America, it has spread almost all over the world to the point of being considered a pest in some countries like South Africa, being a very invasive species due to its resistance and adaptability, but it is tremendously photogenic.

Casi todos los días junto con mi compañera salimos a pasear por la tarde, y lo hacemos principalmente por el antiguo camino que unía ancestralmente nuestro pequeño pueblo con la capital de la isla de Ibiza. Transcurre entre antiguas fincas de labranza con las viviendas correspondientes, y tanto en los márgenes de los campos como en las vallas que rodean las casas, crecen durante la primavera y hasta bien entrado el verano una variedad de plantas que no soy capaz de describir. Entre ellas surgen un pequeño número de flores que adornan nuestro paseo, y el del resto de caminantes, que hacen que el recorrido sea de lo más alegre.

La imagen que presento al concurso es de esta Lantana Camara, en su variedad Mutabilis, quizá la más atractiva de la especie. Según la plantapedia es originaria del centro y sudamérica, se ha extendido por casi todo el mundo hasta el punto de ser considerada una plaga en algunos países como Sudáfrica, siendo una especie muy invasora por su resistencia y adaptabilidad, pero eso sí, es tremendamente fotogénica.
