The Cathedral of Palmira or also called Cathedral of Our Lady of Rosario del Palmar, located in Valle del Cauca - Colombia is a cultural, architectural and religious heritage of that area. The first parish nucleus was formed in 1722 at the Hacienda Malagana, with the dedication of Our Lady of Rosario del Palmar. In the year 1724, the permission to expose the Divine Majesty was granted, that permission was granted by the Bishop of Popayán, Juan Gómez de Frías, indeed the church was routed by an earthquake in the year 1766. In 1852 it was the beginning of its reconstruction on the land it occupies today. In 1913, it was demolished. This Cathedral was officially inaugurated in 1929 on February 9, but the foundation stone for its construction was laid in 1914. The Cathedral was designed by a man of German origin who belonged to the community of the Redemptorist Fathers called Silvestre. The church has murals on its walls and the way of the cross the artist who captured these works of art was the Spanish Luis Peña Negri, it also has an interior decoration which was made by the maestro Mauricio Ramelli, an Italian artist. Its first Bishop was Monsignor Jesús Antonio Castro Becerra. This beautiful cathedral is a true work of art.
