"The rapids of the Churun River"
El río Churun es un río en Venezuela, que se encuentra en el Parque Nacional Canaima, proviene en parte de la cuenca del río Orinoco y otra de un afluente que proviene del Salto Ángel, entre otros.
The Churun River is a river in Venezuela, which is located in the Canaima National Park, it comes in part from the Orinoco river basin and another from a tributary that comes from the Angel Falls, among others.
Luego de un buen y merecido descanso en Canaima, nos alistamos para adentrarnos selva adentro vía El Salto Ángel a contra corriente por el río Churun, el tiempo de este viaje por el Rio Churun es relativo a la situación del nivel de agua en el rio. Puede oscilar normalmente entre 4 u 8 horas, en esta ocasión el nivel de agua era muy bajo.
En este paseo íbamos dos (2) ciudadanos Alemanes, un (1) ciudadano norteamericano, un (1) ciudadano Ingles, una (1) chica Francesa-Marroquí, un (1) ciudadano portugués, siete (7) venezolanos y al menos tres (3) guías pemones por cada bote, todos repartidos en 2 botes.
After a good and well-deserved rest in Canaima, we get ready to go into the jungle via the Angel Falls against the current by the Churun River, the time of this trip through the Churun River is relative to the situation of the water level in the river. It can normally range between 4 or 8 hours, this time the water level was very low.
On this tour we were two (2) German citizens, one (1) North American citizen, one (1) English citizen, one (1) French-Moroccan girl, one (1) Portuguese citizen, seven (7) Venezuelans and at least three (3) Pemon guides for each boat, all divided into 2 boats.
Es tan increíble el Paisaje que uno queda con la boca abierta de la majestuosidad de la creación en donde se comienzan a dejar ver los Tepuys. Cristóbal Colón de quien se dice en realidad buscaba las Indias, en donde se hablaban de las Amazonas, decía que adentrándose a ese río llevaba al camino que conducía al Jardín del Edén. Tal vez murió pensando que lo había encontrado. Nunca se adentro en la selva, posiblemente si lo hubiese hecho le habría dado un infarto al ver los Tepuys, en donde en ocasiones se ve el oro a flor de piel de montaña!.
The Landscape is so incredible that one is left speechless by the majesty of creation where the Tepuys begin to be seen. Christopher Columbus, who is said to have actually sought the Indies, where they spoke of the Amazons, said that entering that river led to the path that led to the Garden of Eden. Maybe he died thinking he had found it. He never went into the jungle, possibly if he had, he would have had a heart attack when he saw the Tepuys, where sometimes you see gold on the surface of mountain skin!
Hicimos una parada para bañarnos en una parte del río en donde se "minimizan los peligros naturales", siempre bajo la supervisión de los guías pemones.
We made a stop to bathe in a part of the river where natural dangers are "minimized", always under the supervision of the Pemon guides.

Luego de ese break, continuamos el viaje por las rutas del rio que se pasean al borde y entre los tepuys dando la sensación de que fuese una especie de laberinto entre tan imponentes formaciones rocosas.
Llegamos a un tramo del Río Churun que son unos rápidos, situación complicada a contra corriente con los botes llenos y con los niveles de agua muy bajo, por lo que tuvimos que hacer una parada y continuar caminando hasta otro extremo, los conductores de los botes atravesaban los rápidos para recogernos del otro lado.
After that break, we continue the trip along the river routes that walk along the edge and between the tepuys, giving the feeling that it was a kind of labyrinth between such imposing rock formations. We reached a section of the Churun River that are rapids, a complicated situation against the current with the boats full and the water levels very low, so we had to make a stop and continue walking to the other end, the boat drivers they were going through the rapids to pick us up on the other side.
A pesar de las majestuoso Auyantepuy, me llamo la atención el paisaje que enseñaba este tramo del río lleno de rocas y dejando ver el reflejo del cielo en el agua. Decidí retratarlo así que dispare varias tomas.

Continuamos y los guías nos pusieron la tarea buscar el rostro pemon en una de las formaciones rocosas!
We continued and the guides gave us the task of looking for the pemon face in one of the rock formations!

Pues si!!! es justamente este.... tiene un nombre en pemón que no recuerdo! y aún así mucho menos pronunciar, pero al menos se los presento en esta foto.

Dejaré por ahora hasta aquí! fue un paseo sensacional! .. nuestro próximo destino es en un campamento pemon al frente de Isla Ratón que a su vez esta al frente del Salto Ángel, en donde pasaríamos la noche para escalarlo y hacer cumbre al día siguiente. Un paseo curioso en donde vimos anacondas, tarántulas, hormigas 24h y extrañamente no encontramos arboles frutales!, solo unas siembras de piñas en el campamento.
I'll leave here for now! it was a sensational ride! .. our next destination is in a pemon camp in front of Isla Ratón which in turn is in front of Angel Falls, where we would spend the night to climb it and reach the summit the next day. A curious walk where we saw anacondas, tarantulas, ants 24 hours a day and strangely we did not find fruit trees!, Only a few pineapple plantations in the camp.

Es un viaje increíblemente fantástico .. lastima en este momento están impactando el lugar la minería de oro... Los tepuys son las primeras formaciones rocosas del planeta y al parecer el oro no es de esta tierra!, si no, viene del espacio.. Jimmy Ángel estaba buscando oro... algunas plantas a través de sus raíces lo extraen y sale por las hojas! .. el vío desde el aire lo que parecía oro... y tuvo aterrizaje forzoso muy cerca a lo que conocemos como el Salto Ángel.. que en realidad tiene otro nombre en Pemon .. es un paseo hermoso lleno de aventuras..
Interesante teoría, voy a leer un poco más sobre ese tema, y seguiré imaginando estar en ese maravilloso lugar hasta que tenga la oportunidad de ir.
