My Contribution - Weekly Contest, "Creating Short Story Week #10"
My first try in this contest - I've never written something with only 150 words or less...;-))
Shit happens...
"We've got lots of snails again this year," complained one of the gardeners. An elderly lady smiled smugly. "That's no longer a problem - haven't you ever heard of Indian runner-ducks? They make short work of you ..." "Oh yes, I've heard. Supposed to be miracle weapons." "They are! Our neighbours have had nothing but the very best experiences with them." Her smile widened. The gentleman, slightly suspicious, leaned forward, "Do you think I should try them, too?" "Well, if you feel really fit ... Because there is a little problem. In the beginning, it worked wonderfully with the running ducks. Then came the bird flu - and with it compulsory stabling. For months to come! Now the neighbours have their hands full collecting the snails themselves - as they used to do - to feed them to the ducks. And you wouldn't believe how voracious these ducks are ..."

Interesting story where some ducks starts to be the solution to end the snails, but then they brought more work to the owners for having to collect the snails to feed them.
