RE: Talk Channel: "Comment or ask a question"/ Comente o pregunte (week 271) in the WOX

in WORLD OF XPILARlast year (edited)

I find it hard to tell if the updates improved my Steemit experiences.

I am still not used to it, and it's only recently that the-gorilla took care of the way comments were shown before posting.
I still struggle with only 3 lines to write comments and can't see much, which makes me write shorter comments since I am tired of waiting till I can read and edit. So from now on it will be shorter comments.

Did it improve my experience? Not really. I am too used to the old way of working so I still waste time searching for wallets and communities (this also depends on the browser I use).

I can be short about the proposals:

In general I know nothing about proposals. I rarely look wherever one can find them (which is???), and since I am no longer a curator, I am mainly busy with #miner-wewrite, working offline on my to-do list and realizing the plans I have and like to realize.

I know partly what @the-gorilla does and did but I cannot see every change since it looks different on a mobile phone.

If it comes to the other link:
If I see that text all I can think is: This is not meant for everyone to read.

Changes and developments:

To keep Steemit in the picture and more modern I admit that certain developments should be made and it's good there is somenone working on the bugs and whatever is possible to add a bit extra to this platform so a big compliment to the-gorilla!

Btw I am more up to date if it comes to what @kafio does and has to offer.

Support for proposals

I would say: Explain. How many proposals are there, were there, how can one support? I have very strong doubts all the proposals are visible and the steemians know about it and how to support.

Does an upvote count, or some click here and there? Or setting someone as a beneficiary?
Is SteemAtlas a proposal or setting them as a beneficiary to pay for the developers?
For sure I did during all those years I am on Steemit but also only if I bump into it and know what to do. It's not that I am searching the entire platform for it or look in any list, check witnesses or people who might work on the platform.

Since we can ask questions as well I like to know:

  1. who are those with proposals?
  2. can we have** the option of making polls** like we had years ago?
  3. can we do a proposal for a different type of witnesses, people active on the platform, investing in it and connecting to Steemians? Or should I write about it?

I would like to nominate @the-gorilla as a witness

Thanks and a great day.

Where do I begin...

I'll start with my proposal - there's still soooo much to do. I also find the 3 lines of edit box annoying - even on Desktop. It doesn't need to be this small so I don't know why it's been set like that. I'd like to change that too. (One of the first things I do when replying is to make the box bigger! Which I don't think you can do on a mobile).

In the top right burger menu, there's an option for "Steem Proposals". It links to here.

This is all of the available proposals to vote on. Voting on the post doesn't vote for the proposal. That's done with the little green arrow next to the current vote total.

Hopefully that's what you wanted to know!

Making Polls

I'm assuming how this worked before was not embedded in Steemit. I remember @starlord28 delivered something a few years ago. If he were still active, I'd ask him but he's been quiet for a while now. It looks like this was his last post on the subject.

Witnesses
Hmmm, this is always touchy. There are some GREAT witnesses who aren't in the top 20 and some who in my opinion, definitely don't deserve to be there.

The current barrier to "normal people" becoming a witness is the requirement to run a witness node. This requires a level of technical expertise and more importantly, expense (approximately €40 per month I believe) so unless you reach the top 20, you're paying for very little benefit.

I do have a voice amongst the witnesses but obviously not the same weight that a Top 20 witness will have.

I'm amazed that I saw this mention after just 3 hours. I usually find them on Steemworld but unfortunately, some nob heads have spammed the hell out of it!!

Perhaps it would be unreasonable to create a community witness, and a team of common users could be given the opportunity to support the expenses generated by the witness function, until reaching the top 20 (a difficult thing) in order to obtain the necessary resources. The roles would be varied, some technical, others fulfilling the advertising role.

I've seen that steemchiller has been working on producing a much cheaper way of running a witness node - for something like 20% of the cost. So it might soon be something that doesn't require a huge amount of funding.

Say, I have all it needs to run a witness node (the hardware, software, fund, and else), then what to do? I just run the node and try to be in the top 20? Thank you. But, hey, I thought you were a Witness.

That’s exactly correct. You don’t even need to have written a post to be a witness if you can find a way to get the votes.

I see. Thank you.

I have a post here about the Proposal for STEEM DAO Reserve Fund

https://steemit.com/world-of-xpilar/@xpilar/summary-of-the-proposal-for-steem-dao-reserve-fund

 last year

Greetings friend @wakeupkitty

So far we have seen superficial changes, such as the pinned posts ribbon, which saves us space to get to the recent active posts. Hopefully the limitation in the comments box will be expanded a little more to facilitate the development of our responses.

The proposals are more formal, or rather, they directly impact the functioning of Steemit, it is not an application or a tool. Recently there is a proposal to create a reserve fund that allows to effectively support the development and sustainability of the platform.

Yes, it is true, some proposals are presented with technical language that is a bit complex to understand, however, little by little we will see publications related to it, with the purpose of promoting the support of everyone.

Some programmers develop management applications, but in reality we need applications that promote the use of Steem, to call more investors.

We can see the proposals on the following site:

https://steemitwallet.com/proposals

Proposals are usually submitted by developers, however, common users can also submit ideas that can bring improvements and benefits to Steemit and Steem.

Maybe there is someone among the developers who is interested in creating a survey system to find out the appreciation of the Steemit community on various points.

I believe that witnesses, as well as proposals, are influenced by the Steem Power of accounts that support them, that is, as they receive support from accounts with a significant amount of SP, the chances of being in the top 20 will increase, this is another reason why we should add SP, to provide more support to witnesses.

I hope @the-gorilla can be among them.

It's very interesting!
