The World of XPILAR - Cityscape Photography and Art Contest, Week #120: A Saturday on the heart of Merida
¡Hola a todos! El día de hoy les traigo mi entrada a la edición número 120 del Concurso de World of XPILAR de Fotografía y Arte de Paisaje Urbano, auspiciado por @axeman.
La presente fotografía fue tomada desde la esquina del Centro Cultural Olimpo con la cámara de mi teléfono Samsung A32, el sábado 30 de abril, en pleno Centro Histórico de la ciudad de Mérida, Yucatán, México; concretamente en la calle 61 con 62. Ese día había salido a una miniconferencia en la biblioteca estatal y me estaba encaminando a comprar el pan, en una hora donde había un alto índice de rayos UV. Durante los meses críticos de la pandemia, la Plaza Grande estaba llena de puestos de artesanías pertenecientes al programa "Mérida en Domingo" con el objetivo de evitar aglomeraciones. Según me platicaron algunos venteros las pocas veces que pasaba por allá el fin de semana, debían asistir los sábados y domingos de forma intercalada (un sábado una semana, un domingo la siguiente). Así se mantuvo hasta que el gobierno tomó la decisión de regresar al formato original, es decir, de que todos asistieran solo el domingo, ante la baja de contagios.
Solo los que venden comida rápida (churros, hot dogs, helados) continuaron con asistir ambos días de forma seguida.
Hello everyone! Today I'm bringing you my entry to the 120th edition of the World of XPILAR Cityscape Photography and Art Contest, sponsored by @axeman.
This picture was taken from the corner of the Olimpo Cultural Center with my Samsung A32 phone's camera on Saturday, April 30th, in the very Historic Downtown of the city of Merida, Yucatan, Mexico; specifically in the 61st street with 62nd. That day I went to a miniconference held in the local library and I was going to buy some the bread at an hour where the UV rays were high. During the critical month of the pandemic, the Plaza Grande was full of craft stalls that belonged to the "Mérida en Domingo" program, in orde to avoid aglomerations; according to what I was told by some sellers the few times I passed by in the weekends, they had to attend on Saturdays and Sundays alternately (a Saturday one week, a Sunday the next). It remained that way until the government made the decision to return to the original format; that is, that everyone attend only on Sunday, due to the drop in infections.
Only the people who sell fast food (churros, hot dogs, ice creams) continued to attend both days in a row.
Amiga se nota que es un sitio muy transitable, me alegra que los índices bajaron sobre la pandemia, mucha gente se beneficia de estos emprendedores, le quedo muy linda su fotografía me gusta como se ven las nubes de fondo todo un espectáculo!

¡Muchas gracias, @lanegra2804! Sí, es uno de los puntos más concurridos de la ciudad. Los turistas lo visitan mucho tanto por los edificios que le rodean (el Palacio de Gobierno y de la Alcaldía) como por las ventas que se realizan ahí los domingos. ¡Un saludo!
