Con la cámara de mi teléfono Samsung A32 tomé esta fotografía en una tarde del 21 de octubre de 2023, mientras comía un sandwich de jamón y queso en una banqueta. El edificio de fondo es la iglesia de El Jesús de la Tercera Orden, de la cual he hablado ya tantas veces en este espacio; el lugar en donde tomé esta fotografía era el Parque Hidalgo, ubicado en la calle 60 con 59 del Centro Histórico de la ciudad de Mérida.
¿Y quién es el caballero que se encuentra de pie, cuan estatua, mirando fijamente a la iglesia? Ese señor era Manuel Cepeda Peraza, general mexicano y uno de los gobernadores más ilustres de Yucatán durante el siglo XIX. Esta estatua fue fotografiada muchas veces tanto por turistas como locales (incluyéndome).

With my Samsung A32 phone's camera I took this picture in the afternoon of October 21st, 2023, while eating a ham and cheese sandwich in a bench. The building in the background is the church of El Jesus de la Tercera Orden, on which I talked several times in this space; the place where I took this picture was the Hidalgo Park, located in 60th street with 59th streets of the Historic Downtown of Merida city.
And who's the gentleman who stands, like a statue, staring at the church? That man was Manuel Cepeda Peraza, Mexican general and one of the most illustrious governors of Yucatan during the 19th century. This statue was photographed many times by both tourists and locals (including me).
