What comes to your mind when you think of December?

Is it Christmas, food, or family?

Sincerely, I have always looked forward to this season, primarily because of its festivity. However, my mindset changed when I strolled into the market last week Saturday to buy some vegetables for the family's dinner.

Not only did the prices of these basic commodities skyrocket into thick clouds, but the vegetables were also scarce. Then it dawned on me that December also marked the beginning of the dry season.

For local farmers (who often depend on traditional farming systems), this period is unfavourable for most plants to thrive. Hence, the decline in food production.

I had to mentally sketch an area affected by the absence of rainfall.

• HB pencil
• 5B pencil
• Charcoal pencil
• Eraser

The Steps

It took me a period of 5 days to fully give life to this art. But I love the overall result.

This is a call to existing and prospective farmers to embrace innovative agricultural techniques like hydroponics, aeroponics, greenhouse technologies, etc. The goal is to promote food security and reduce carbon emissions. We can achieve these, one step at a time.
