My First Year In School

The things we do to make sure we survive
So I've been in a school for 4yrs now and the survival means I've learnt through out these years is second to none
In my first year in school (Federal University Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Nigeria) when I was in the boys hostel, the suffering was second to none.
Yeah you might be wondering how but I'll gist you in a bit don't worry.
As fresh year students we were asked to pay #10,000 for hostel fee and accommodation and then another #1,000 by the potter for reason we purely don't know about. We were 13 in my room (room 207). I know you are surprised how 13 boys would cohabit in the same room for a year, it was HELL!!!
I was opportuned to stay in same room as @eberechi10 and @KennyLogan in the hostel and that was how I met both of them first met in school.

There was a new epidemic almost every week in the hostel and it was something to cry about. Stale waters surrounded the hostel vicinity so insects were brooding just fine. We stayed in bunk beds and as if that was not enough, I had to share the top bunk with a very good friend because my own allocated space was already taken by another.
We had to buy food each day by day( i.e morning and night). We all had to skip launch each day because of low finance and soon enough it looked like unnecessary spendings. I wouldn't even want to talk about how we took our baths daily or eased ourselves, trust me you wouldn't want to know.
We killed snakes every month and it was just scary, sincerely it was. I could remember a friend of mine who went out to ease himself at night and on coming back, saw a snake on his bed, it was killed though but I was imaging if it were to be me, I know fully well I won't sleep in that room anymore.
We kept on depreciating and depreciating in both size, skin and everything in total. School work wasn't even helping cause as an engineering student in my first year, I had tons of assignments (especially Engineering Drawing) that I had to keep up with.
In total the school hostel was bad and nothing to write about entirely but....... But...... There was a glow in the room, I made friends and then brothers. Made strong bonds that are still strong even until now.
Unlike others rooms, there was never a time that anything got lost due to stealing or whatsoever. My room was always fun to be with, the mixture of serious, playful, God-fearing, annoying, stingy, and careless brothers was the sweetest part of my first year.
I'm sincerely grateful I got to know this people.
