The Youngest - Cau Ut Coffee Shop

In today’s society, we are inundated with various tones and colors that make us think of luxurious lifestyles. When I passed by the coffee shop " Cau Ut", these memories from the past and my childhood, from the time before subsidies were created, come back to haunt me when I see the simple decoration. For me, it's a sweet and loving name, and the name brings back happy memories.

I'm a coffee addict and like many addicts, I visit many coffee shops. It's not really possible to write all about them and sometimes I find that if I visit one that stood out for me, I'll write about it here. So let's check out what makes "Cau Ut" worth mentioning 🙂

In Vietnam, the youngest in the family is often referred to as the “Cau Ut”. He is loved and cared for by all their older siblings and parents. You know the reason why the name really attracts me 🙂 The coffee shop, situated in one of the busiest streets of the city and surrounded by luxurious shops, still maintains its Vietnamese traditional style, from old television to old wooden chairs around small tables.

Outside this shop, there are several small tables where you can relax and watch the bustling streets. In Vietnam, street coffee is a part of the culture. In most cases, locals find themselves sitting at makeshift tables with a cup of coffee in hand chatting with friends and family, but we do enjoy it 😄 This scene is common in Vietnam, so do not be surprised when you see it :)

The wall of the shop is decorated with lovely black and white pictures and fun words written in white chalk.

Every corner of the shop is very cozy. There are bookshelves lined up against one wall to provide a reading area.

The small but quaint feel of the store offers an experience, unlike any other typical large-scale shop. The unique vibe of the store is what draws me in.

The second floor is small but the view is worth it. That's what people who come up to the second floor say. The chairs beside the windows are very comfortable and you'll be able to see everything that's going on on Main Street from up there.

It was impressive to see the Vietnamese flags and some drink bottles displayed along the corridor.

This reminds me of my childhood. Small shops that sold drinks during the subsidy period were very popular among children because these stores offered very cheap prices that made it possible for everyone to drink. For example, a small bottle of water costs only $0.05, and children could afford this price. All the children in the village loved to gather around for candy and drinks.

I like to sit at a coffee shop not just for the coffee but for the experience I get from being able to look around and observe. Sitting at a coffee shop makes me feel relaxed and it's nice being surrounded by other people while having my own space.

I find myself constantly drawn to the vintage feel or classically decorated cafes. I think it's because they seem so perfect in their own way, with all of the simple arrangements and a classical aesthetic. The emphasis on style and simplicity and the classical music bring me calm.
