This is the time of year when squid fishing begins to intensify. Even the sea is still too hot (17°)for them to hunt, but you can catch a few. They feed best at sunset and at dawn when they come very shallow along the shore for small fish.

This rule also applies to hunting from a boat, while it is not so cold weather you can find them from 2 to 50 meters deep.
In winter, squid fishing from the boat is hunted at approximately 20 m.
When night falls the floodlight or underwater ice light is turned on which sinks 2-3 meters below the boat. A small fish comes to light and is followed by a squid that feeds on it.

On another occasion I will describe hunting from a boat, with a little more detail.

There are always a few people on the main pier trying to catch squid, some will be lucky and some will not.

Shore hunting technique;

The technique is very simple, we hook our lure (in the shape of a shrimp) that has lead on it and throw it as far as possible.

We wait for a couple of seconds to sink to about half a meter from the bottom, then with sudden jerks (jerk 2 times then wait 4 seconds, and we repeat that non-stop) and gently winding the line on a fishing reel.

Warning;
It is not good for the lure to touch the bottom because there is a possibility that we will lose it if it gets stuck somewhere, and if we collect grass and garbage on our lure, the squid will not attack it. We have to adjust the technique so that the lure is close to the bottom but does not touch it.

Squid for hunting uses hunting arms. It fires its hunting arms at high speed and the tentacles on its arms allow it to grab its prey more safely and bring it to its mouth with a sharp beak.

With their tentaclec they get stuck to the bottom of the lure and simply get entangled in these sharp needles.

After an hour and a half I caught four squid and two cuttlefish, which is a great score.
