The World of XPILAR - LANDSCAPE/SEASCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY AND ART CONTEST WEEK #088 ~An oasis of prayer and peace
This is a small island of Visovac (1400 square meters) located on the lake of the same name Visovac and belongs to the Krka National Park.
Located in the canyon of the river Krka between two waterfalls is a unique place and is listed among the 15 most beautiful places in the world. White flag is flying on this island, a symbol of the purity of the river bottom and the protection of life in the river Krka.

Since 1445, it has housed the Franciscan monastery of Our Lady of Mercy and the Church of Our Lady of Visovac.
The island of Visovac is one of the most important natural and cultural values of the Republic of Croatia. During its turbulent history, Visovac was and remains an island of peace and prayer and the Franciscan monastery a fortress of spirituality and faith.
The monastery has an important archaeological collection, a collection of historical church clothes and utensils and a rich library with several historical manuscripts, valuable books and incunabula.

The treasury of the Franciscan monastery keeps the smallest book in the world that contains the prayer of "Our Father" in seven languages.
The book was printed on a Gutenberg machine (in Mainz) the dimensions of the book are 3.5 × 3.5 mm.
The island of Visovac is widely known for its lush nature, which has always been a Franciscan priority, and in this way they have distinguished themselves as caring growers of various plant cultures.
Today, the island is home to more than 195 plant species, of which 80 are cultivated.
In addition to exotic plants, the island is no less interesting animals, so between the tall apple trees you can enjoy the view of peacocks that proudly spread their colorful tails, this one is on the roof.
There is still a home for chickens, ducks, geese, turtles and many other birds that lives there.

Lovely photographs, @to-tru. Nature is magically incredible, it fascinates me to enjoy it. It gives us wonderful phenomena that change every moment. I do not know that splendid place, but I would love to go visit it. I wish I could be the photographer of those moments, it would be a fabulous and incredible experience. I hope I can go one day, it would be an amazing moment of reflection and relaxation. Thank you very much for sharing this photograph.
