Mandarin is a plant from the Rutaceae family, and it belongs to the genus Citrus.
Mandarins are evergreen plants, growing up to about 3 meters in height, with wider leaves than other citrus. It thrives best in subtropical regions because it is sensitive to cold, especially to sub-zero temperatures.

Mandarin is a sour-sweet citrus from Southeast Asia that has only been grown in our area since the 19th century.

Mandarin, like other citrus fruits, is an excellent source of vitamin C, which is important for the body's immunity and the fight against seasonal diseases, whose symptoms are alleviated and recovery is accelerated.
One hundred grams of orange fruit contains about 30 milligrams of this nutrient, which satisfies one third of the daily needs for vitamin C.

When consuming mandarins, one should not forget the white fibrous envelope that wraps the fruit on the inside of the peel. If you eat a lot of carbohydrates and fats, this fruit, full of dietary fiber, helps speed up dormant digestion, more precisely intestinal peristalsis, and thus reduce the effect of harmful digestive results on the walls of this organ.

Mandarin is considered a low-calorie food, contains very low fat and salt content, and is recommended for people trying to lose extra pounds. It speeds up the metabolism and thus helps to melt the fat pads in the abdomen. Citruses also have a low glycemic index that helps balance blood sugar levels, so it is also recommended for diabetics.

Mandarin is a good source of potassium, which lowers blood pressure, balances heart rhythm and preserves the health of the cardiovascular system.
The nutrients in mandarins also prevent the accumulation of bad cholesterol on the walls of the arteries, which can lead to a heart attack.

Mandarin essential oil, which is considered a natural antiseptic because it protects the body from some bacteria, will also help maintain health. It helps relieve painful cramps in the respiratory system, and has a relaxing effect on the nervous system, so it is recommended for use in anxiety situations or if you are under stress.

Mandarin is most often eaten fresh after peeling, but can be used to prepare sweet dishes in jellies, ice creams, creams and jams.

I pick it from the tree, peel it and eat it or as in this case, drain it in a glass, put a spoonful of homemade honey and drink it.

Hola @to-tru,

Saludos 😊

Mandarin is a very healing fruit even its peel is healing.
Tea made from mandarin peel reduces the risk of skin cancer by 40 percent and in combination with black tea by up to 70 percent.
Many studies have shown that mandarin peel has many more healing properties than the juice or the fruit itself, and their ability to lower blood cholesterol is especially emphasized.
Research also shows that there are 20 times more antioxidants in the peel than in mandarin juice, which means that we usually throw away what is most valuable.

But the juice is great, I like to put a teaspoon of honey so I get a sour sweet taste.

Thank you @nithku for the comment.

Si supieras que la cascara si la uso, la pongo a secar y la mastico (ya parezco una anciana jajaja), ahora la usare para hacer te gracias por compartir tus conocimientos, fue muy interesante de leer, definitivamente ahora valorare más la mandarina.
Saludos 😊

Thank you for the wonderful comments, eat a lot of mandarins and don't throw away the peel but cook it ... he he ☺✌
