A Failed Attempt To Make Fried Rice
We usually eat rice here and it has been so long since I have had something other than rice. When my mother called me today for lunch, I knew that I will have to eat rice again but then a thought came to my mind that I should try making fried rice.
I had never cooked it before but I decided to give it a go.
I chopped some veggies and as you can see in the picture below. The veggies that I used :
- Capsicum
- Cabbage
- Carrot
- Onion
- Green Chilli
I chopped them all and kept them in a plate.
The rice was already prepared so I just lit up the burner and kept a pan on it. I, then fried these veggies in refined oil for a short period of time. I added vinegar, red chili sauce, and green chili sauce while frying. After I fried them, I added salt and poured the rice into the pan which covered the veggies.
Now comes the funniest part, I had to add some soya sauce to the mixture but when I looked at the bottle of soya sauce, it seemed ages old and therefore I checked the expiry date. Turns out, it had already expired.
I went out to look for soya sauce but because of the lockdown, I could find it nearby. I had to come back home to take a bike and go to a store to buy it. It cost me almost an hour. I came back and added soya sauce to rice and veggies but the damage was done already. The veggies were no longer crunchy. I still ate the fried rice but it didn't taste like one.
