Devil's staircase Camping | Sri Lanka | 5% to sl-charity

in WORLD OF XPILAR3 years ago
Last weekend I had my latest hike with a couple of university buddies and here I am writing the first travel report to Steemit.

Initially it was planned to go to Sripada mountain, Sri Lanka but due to the pandemic, a lot of documentation and approvals need to be taken and found that as a hassle at that moment and on second thoughts, Camping at Devil’s staircase was planned in Thursday night and off we went on Saturday morning.

Route

Fellow travelers were from Galle, Matara and Colombo, so we could only assemble at Kalupahana Junction. I took the Panadura- Badulla -Ketawatta bus at 7 A.M from Panadura central bus station and reached Kalupahana junction at 10. 30. The unfortunate Passara bus accident was heard by the time I was in the bus that shook a little. After assembling in there, went near the Bambarakanda entrance by three wheelers, 400 rupees for 5 km.

Attractions

The devil’s staircase is the road that take place from Kalupahana to Ohiya. The road processes some beautiful tourist destinations along the way. Bambarakanda waterfall, being the tallest of them and the most famous one. If you want more adventure, you may climb the Wangedigala, Balathuduwa, Wangedi kanda and Gommolliya mountains and an estate called Galapitaya where there are several waterfalls and beautiful sceneries. But in this trip our focus was on Lanka ella and Yahalathenna falls that are closer to Bambarakanda falls.

So, we’ve camped by the evening in a place called “weli wanguwa” right on the path having a 180+ view and it has started raining with thunderstorms. First day, upper Lanka Ella (the stream that creates Lanka Ella falls) took away the tiredness by giving us a good bath and blistering sceneries to the eye.

On day two we’ve explored the stream that creates Yahalathenna waterfall, had a good bath again and ended a very satisfying journey.

Finally, this is the video I made after the journey; hope you’ll enjoy it.

Beautiful views, great photos! Thank you for sharing!

Would be good to see bigger images next time if possible... They look just fine on my phone, but they are small on laptop...
