I can imagine very well that in such situation when you wait for the beginning of performance the stage and the decoration just asking to be sketched. Lovely architecture and the whole idea of the performance outside it something very special, fresh air of course rain is something that not really nice but it is a nature and if people have umbrellas and rain coats then the fans of theater will still enjoy it :)

Your comment brought me a smile, stef1, because many years ago I was in Munich with friends awaiting an outdoor performance of Carmina Burana when the heavens opened and poured so much rain down upon the orchestra and the huge crowd that we scampered like rats in search of shelter. The authorities in charge of the concert had no choice but to cancel the whole affair. However, they frantically passed out flimsy rain ponchos to us. Although the gesture was futile -- we were soaked -- we have never forgotten the kindness of it.
